What they need to do is quit selling electrics as going “green”. Just keep evolving the technology and make them better than ICE, on the merits of simply being a better vehicle. Honestly a lot of people don’t care if their vehicle saves the planet. It is just a bonus attribute of the tech, not number one on the list for vehicle shopping. The whole climate change nutter stigma around going electric will be a real hurdle to get over. Many people sadly will not buy one out of spite, due to some crazies that push them so hard. Just let the vehicles sell themselves, it really is amazing tech.
Gas stations are a logical choice for the addition of EV charging capacity but they A) Need the parking capacity of the major convenience store brands to pull it off and B) Need the electrical infrastructure to be able to handle enough chargers (especially fast chargers) to make it worthwhile. How many DCFC chargers can the average Wawa, etc support on their electrical system? As EV’s continue to proliferate the market via choice or force, what is going to be producing the additional electricity that’s going to be needed? Nobody seems to really talk about that part of the equation and the rest of these grand plans for EV adoption won’t mean anything if you’re not able to provide them with the electricity they need.
Like I said , OEMs do thing by committee and they don’t really understand the consumer for things that are for infrastructure.
Here’s an example, every EV car comes with a map of nearby charging stations. Ever use it? On most cars this is a useless feature, it doesn’t really explain anything real time. An app like Plugshare (Free) is much more useful as you can see how far away the charger is, if it is full, how much does it cost, etc. The OEM one is basically useful for when your phone and car are almost out of battery.
OEMs put in the feature but don’t understand that it needs constant maintenance and they will screw up a personal ‘supercharging’ network unless they really want to buy land and start doing something about it properly.
So no more additional ev credits
You never know after midterms…
Right. Republicans will revive the bill and increase EV credits
It was Bush who signed the first one
These are different Republicans now.
They’re still politicians at the end of the day…
Right now, the people have a little more than a week to whip-up a budget that takes us through the end of the fiscal year. #shutDownSeason

Bad wig and toupee season.
