Oh no, i meant no accidents caused by myself…lol…other people crashed into me a couple of times. Same for my wife.
edit: come to think about it, i did had 2 glass claims over the past 2 decades.
To be clear, Tesla does not use LIDAR. It uses cameras. There is a recent paper that came out of Cornell saying that’s more than enough, but for the most part, most people in the sector disagree with Elon.
This latest video is pretty convincing…
It’s math only Tesla can understand. I have no clue why they post them this way. The fed credit is part of the transaction on a lease, the other is not.
Yeah personally I am convinced on needing the extra dimension that photos don’t provide. This shouldn’t just be about averages - it’s about the peaks and the outliers.
Also, totally irrelevant rant: I really don’t like the interior of Teslas.
That’s shady advertising/marketing.
- gas savings has absolutely nothing to do with sales price
- everyone’s gas savings would be different based on price of gas + amount traveled anyways.
That estimated gas savings number means absolutely nothing. All that matters there is the tax credit.
Also, the tax credit is there for the purchase price, not the lease. I think I read they somehow did include the tax credit to help with the lease, but it really doesn’t matter. Their lease payment is what it says, no negotiation is possible. So if their lease price says 700 a month, it does not make a difference if they included the tax credit in there or not, they’re charging you 700 a month.
News today: Tesla is launching their own insurance next month. That should make it cheaper to insure than most vehicles.
Though I find for my insurance least the difference between a Tesla and a Sonata is only a few dollars a month. Depends on the area too, I know California has more claims so rates are higher.
I’m in CA and am looking at a couple out of state used Model S’s in the 45k price range. I read here I can get HOV stickers for it as it will never been registered in CA before which is great. Does anybody know if fed or state tax incentives work for a used car being purchased? I figure the likely answer is no… but I want to check. It’s part of my equation for considering new Model 3 vs Used Model S
Ha…I hear you brother. Cannot wait autopilot to get me from Westside to Irvine (50 miles on 405) in a couple months.
Also be aware there are two generation of autopilot hardware.
What’s the easy way to tell what years had what versions? Also what are the main differences?
Video is great, but I noticed it was a warm, sunny day with nice road markings everywhere driving… Not gonna work in my area where most of the lane markings are non-existent. Snow covered roads could be interesting as well. Also wonder if the car knows about how slick the road is in regards to stopping on its own. Until I see a Tesla clip driving autonomously in those conditions, not interested in the AP, even if I did think it was worth it. Lease is horrible, you could own the car for that type of payment and then who cares if the company went out of business, you’d end up in a money tie with lease, except you’d have a car to sell for parts so someone else can keep theirs going…
Thanks for the reply. I’m from Ohio, so insurance is cheap. Just wanted to see if others had realistic quotes, I couldn’t find anything online about people giving their own prices
Insurance is for the Model S only, it appears (from preliminary articles I’ve been reading). The reason being is the Model S falls into the category for one of the most expensive cars to insure nationwide in its class.
Probably because people are dozing off with auto-pilot on and allowing their cars to ram other objects.
Number of times this has been said about mechanization and computerization is always amusing …
People used to say — a website can never be like a real newspaper…
What ticks me is they always start with “being an engineer…”
Like an agricultural engineer knows anything about computer chips.
Yeah, that’s it…not the fact that the car can accelerate faster than most people can handle and it’s body is aluminum.
2016 and prior: Autopilot 1.0
Late 2016-now: Enhanced Autopilot (2.0) This includes Tesla’s own hardware and other features like Summon. 2.0 can also be upgraded to full self-driving.
