[MN] Advice for 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE, Audi A6, VW Atlas etc

Is this realistic? CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed in my car search and could use some advice. I’ve been considering a new 2023 Audi A6 lease, but my local dealer isn’t flexible on pricing. So, I’m exploring other options.

I’ve narrowed it down to two choices:

  1. Buying a Used 2020 Audi A6 for $550/month: Borton Volvo Link. It’s more affordable, but comes without a warranty. An extended warranty is too expensive ($8,500), but I have a friend who’s an Audi mechanic willing to check it out for potential issues.
  2. Leasing a New 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe for around $600/month (sign and drive): Fury Motors Link. This option means no worries about maintenance due to the warranty, but it’s a bit pricier.

I’m torn. Leasing the Jeep offers peace of mind with the warranty, while the Audi is less expensive but lacks the warranty safety net. I’m struggling to decide which is the better option for me.

Could you share your thoughts on how to evaluate these options? Any insights or perspectives would be really helpful right now.

(Meanwhile, I continue to scour the forums looking for a deal on something else that I might be interested in!)

All context gets lost when you start a new thread. Keep it to one.

Not knowing the going rate at all, it still feels like a bad sign when a warranty is $8,500.

No out of warranty German luxury-ish cars — especially COVID cars. There is a thread on extended warranties if you want to search.

If you do decide to lease a Volvo, choose a broker or dealer from the Marketplace.

I realize you’re in a time crunch to replace your wrecked Jeep, but you seem to be trying to chase the car and the deal - pick one. If you truly don’t care, you can easily see from Shared Deals and the Marketplace what is leasing well , go test drive it, and see if it works for you. Bonus of Shared Deals is you have at least one deal structure as model when you make an offer.

Are you still trying to shop for 2 different leases at the same time?

Are you choosing between the 2, or looking for one luxury car and one daily?

Not the used A6. The maintenance and repairs will make it more expensive. You will be immediately upside down on the Jeep and will need to keep it to maturity. I guess that leaves the Volvo…

Which will also need to be kept to maturity…

I’m focused on one at a time. The Jeep deal is one I worked easily because of the relationship I built with the sales manager on the first one that got wrecked. In my view, the Jeep or Audi are options for Car 1.

What Volvo? :joy: They won’t lease nicely discounted 2023s which blows my mind and there not much difference between the 23 and 24s to justify the inflated cost.

I’m chasing any deal. Maybe that’s bad. I’ve been scouring the dealer websites and calculator crunching numbers for hours and hours. I certainly have a list of vehicles we’d like as Car 1 but I need to reset my expectations because I can’t find the deals I see from California or out east for example. :smirk:

My head might still be in pre-COVID and pre-inflation days, but it seems highly unrealistic that you can lease a “nice” let’s call it “family vehicle” for < $700 or $800 a month all in.

I dont understand what youre trying to say here. That vin number is for a 24. Why do you think it is a 23?

I was lazy and didn’t post the right link. I’ll fix it.

I was under the impression you were only looking to lease an A6. Good luck with your search.

I’m chasing a deal.

I’d take the A6 out of all the cars you listed which didn’t seem like a bad deal. Look in marketplace at broker offerings. Not a bad thing to chase the deal and not the car but you need to start making offers and stop asking for quotes. Figure out what actually leases well.

I had suggested this to OP yesterday.

@mk1 - Regarding the lease offer on the 2023 A6 - it is not a bad offer at 9%+ off MSRP + $5750 in rebates. If it is with base MF, as I said in your other thread, tell the dealer you will sign today at 12% off. I would settle at 11% off MSRP for an end of the month deal.

Audi A6, Q7, E class, GLE, none of these are happening within that budget unfortunately.

Audi Q5 is ok, getting a little on the old side, should really be leasing for way less than what everyone is asking for them.

JGC 4xe base trim isn’t nicer than a nice trim of Hyundai, Kia etc so IDK how it made that list or how it can be considered a $650 car.

You’ll have to revise your budget, or maybe allocate more toward the nice car and less for the daily driver. Can you drive an EV as a daily driver that doesn’t see many road trips?

If you are going to go down the used luxury route, nothing wrong with that if you know what you’re doing.

  1. Carmax has 2020 A6 starting at $28k and a much lower cost of warranty. Or 2019 Lexus GS starting at $33k which ought to be more reliable and retain value better than the A6.

  2. If you can allocate more for the nice car, then CPO 2021s from Mercedes, BMW and Audi are now $40k and up.

  3. From personal experience the most reliable modern German engine made was the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 by Mercedes. Our family had two of these in the W211 and W212 (2010-2016) up to 10yrs/100k on the first one and 11yrs/75k miles and counting on the latter. Without a warranty my first search for a luxury German car would definitely be for a 2016 E350.
