I get this but it goes away after a day. Not that it helps if I’m far from home. It has morphed into a new error in red, “Speed severely restricted”
I’ll take it into my local MB dealer on Tuesday. I’m not sure what they are going to do. I’ve updated my AAA membership to plus which gives me 100-mile towing range. I’ve put 17K miles on it over the last 13 months.
Presume you’ve checked all the usual suspects: eBay, utires, FB, Craig’s? Any local shops known to buy take-offs in your area?
Yup, still checking regularly if a decent set of 2 pops up.
Just as an FYI-- Mercedes won’t diagnose the HV battery under the HV battery warranty. All diagnostics have to be paid out of pocket once the basic warranty has expired.
I think @brunot99 went through this
They also charge what seems like a 2.5 hour labor-hour to turn off the car and turn it back on.
Call MBZ corporate and ask for A1C (or is it C1A?) authorization to do it under warranty so the dealer gets paid directly regardless of what they find. GL!
PS: Going with A1C since you’re the MMR guy
It’s apparently a new game MBZ dealers are playing. I finally started having some charging related issues (all your fault BTW) where the car wouldn’t maintain high rate of charge on L3 charger regardless of SOC. The dealer claimed that my charge port got burned and wanted almost $3K to replace it. Well, I’ve seen pix of burnt pins and mine didn’t look anything like that. Regardless, two lower pins couldn’t get damaged by L1 or L2 chargers so I had zero intention of paying for it. The problem was that the dealer had zero intention of fixing it. The service director told me to get that auth, which I did and they replaced a perfectly good charging port on the corporate dime. Of course, that didn’t fix the charging problem! Next they replaced the DC charging controller (no drama or extracurricular authorizations required). Haven’t had a chance to test it yet.
Here is the warranty booklet to which I was referred.
The key part, for me, is the statement: “To make a warranty claim under this Battery Coverage you must present your vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealership so a diagnosis can be performed to determine whether it is necessary to correct a defect in material or workmanship.”
My SA said the diagnosis would most likely find a software problem, not a battery defect, at which point I would be paying hourly to have the software updated. I’m just going to keep driving it until the error comes back and won’t go away. No point of paying, or fighting, until then. But I have sent a complaint to corporate.
I hope you convert back to an all-ICE vehicle soon. Like still have an EV for being cheap. But when you need a reliable car, go ICE just like me and @z0lt3c .
And he picked a CDJR to be more reliable than an EV. That’s saying a lot.
ps, I know he picked the Ram for towing, but my version is funnier.
I’ll go back to ICE when hell freezes over. Pun intended.
Wildfire season will thaw the ICE.

Can you explain this more. I used to get 150-190 kw while charging. I took it in service with a bunch of issues and now I can barely get over 100kw at an L3 charger. I’m in NJ btw, it’s not that cold to cause that, yet.
Google burnt DC charge port to see what burnt pins look like to eliminate that possibility. It’s the lower 2 pins not touched by L1 and L2 chargers. In my case, it wasn’t that. They ended up replacing DC charge controller. Still don’t know if this is going to fix the issue.
And ask/tell them to make sure you have the most up to date software. BTW, my problems also coincided with a software update. No idea if it really was that update that did it.
Problem is the car is discontinued, dealers have very low to no inventory. With that said, they are not under pressure to move this car in volumes. If they have one or two left looks like they think it’s the time to hike th prices for people who really want this car.
Funny you mention that. My OTA updates have been stuck since April and nothing will actually install. It says when conditions are met it will install and I’ve tried everything I could think of and find in the forums. The dealer is unable to get them to install either.
