Mercedes Benz EQS Lease Superthread - 1

The R1S and EV9 are still able to pull off the boxy SUV look.

And the EQB is still boxy like its gas counterpart.

But yes… the jellybean design is aerodynamic… and MBZ (and other automakers) were going that way even before the EQ series.

True, but while the Europeans spend their r&d on drag and weight, GM is just going to drop a 200kw battery in the Silverado to give it range.

Call me biased, but I think the EQS sedan looks pretty good. But I do notice other EQS drivers out there are checking out the Magno … so I think the right paint color helps a ton.

Holy crap … $40k for a 1 year old EQS (I mean CQS) 450 at 13 month lease return may be an overpay… Maybe Mercedes EQS would have done better if branded as a Hyundai?

(yes, I know this is a lemon that is being shipped from CA to Illinois because of reasons).

Obligatory: Nice.

I find the braking excellent when one-pedal driving is enabled (strong region + creep off). Very smooth and underlines the comfort of the car.

Agreed, that’s how I set up the car. I wish it would permanently default to “strong regen”.

IMO, the one pedal driving is even better in this EQS than our previous Teslas … because it’s easier to modulate a gentle slow down in the Mercedes compared to Tesla. Aside of parking the car, I think I’ve hit the brake pedal once while driving in the last 2 weeks.

Completely agree under normal driving conditions. How about emergency or panic braking from 45-50 mph or higher? My car skips a beat handing off from regen to mechanical brakes. My SA and shop foreman told me that it’s normal for EQ cars as they obviously do not have engine braking and a computer has to simulate it. Hoping that the next (apparently huge) update will address it.

And then there’s that nose dive due to it’s massive weight that I didn’t experience in either of the two loaner EQE SUVs. In general, those EQE drove very different from EQS 450+ sedan: lighter on their feet but not as smooth or comfortable.

I wonder with the crashing residuals of MBFS is going to be more flexible with extending leases?

But that means the current crazy low prices will need to continue for the next year or two. MB certianly doesn’t help themselves always announcing how they EQx line will die out.

Interesting. When alone I drive quite aggressively 80-90 and had to do those…I did not experience anything unusual (yet) compared to 400hp ICE car I had before except I feel the car is heavier which it is.

Hmmm, definitely very different from ICE braking on my car. Maybe I should take my car to another dealer and drive another EQS while at it.

What year is your EQS? Curious if you see any/major differences in MBUX between EQS and S class?

For around $50k, this car is a steal. I’m surprised the prices on these tanked this hard because the car isn’t bad.

EQS 2022, s class 2023. Yes the EQS feels quality-wise like an E-class. It’s clunkier, feels a little cheaper.

How about specifically MBUX (infotainment system)? Any noticable differences in speed or functionality?

I can’t speak to S-Class, but on a 2023 GLS (which is basically a 2022 E class interior) and 2023 EQS … the MBUX general user interface looks a bit different due to the screen size, but is generally functionally identical. The EQS has the “zero layer” thing that we just immediately turned off because it’s not very intuitive compared to the older big-icon based UI.

On both the voice recognition absolutely sucks.

BTW it turns out my EQS had a heated steering wheel. As others noted it activates when the heated seats turn on. And, the voice-activated request can activate the heated steering wheel independently.

My car has a blank plastic in place of that extra heated steering wheel button that Derek showed.

Do you have the SUV because mine doesn’t have the switch either

No, sedan.

Any yet they fail on that as well, with 285miles of range.
