Cherry Hill, Manhattan etc actually sell these cars so I am not surprised.

We’ve bought 6 e-class from CH over the years from same sales guy and all have been very competitive leases.

Stopped in to chat about an EQE…

$1300/mo and he just shook his head and said these are more expensive than I thought, not worth it…

The NYC metro area has been very difficult. So much so that’s it’s hard to even get them to engage. I ended up going for a well-optioned '23 EQE instead for 10% off MSRP pre-incentives through a broker here.

Anyone familiar with NYS taxes? I have a dealer telling that because it s a 2022 and being purchased out of state I have to pay tax on the full value of the vehicle. I can’t find anything in the NYS sales tax publication on this though.

One generalized thought, that may or may not be contrary------

This is definitely a car that we are all chasing because of the effective cost versus MSRP. I am as big of a sucker for that as anyone. But, we probably do need to admit that there’s a reason why these cars need to be supported so heavily by the manufacturer (and it is because they just are not selling well apparently). Of course, there’s usually a reason for that.

The rest of this is just my personal opinion, but before anyone stretches to buy one of these, please make sure you go look at them very closely where there are a number of them on a dealership lot. I spent some time going to a larger dealership where they had quite a few of these in a variety of colors. The short story is with one of these EQS next to an S class ICE car, one of them looks like it costs twice as much… and you can guess which one, lol. The EQS is very very vanilla plain jane (which is not necessarily bad), but it is by no means a striking car (especially in most of the colors that are offered). That said, the matte silver (magno something or other) is :fire::fire::fire::fire:, especially with the 21 AMG wheels.

Spock you hit the nail on the head. People are chasing the deal not the car. It’s like a gambling addiction haha. It is a great value for the price but I’ve passed on it. Best I’ve found is $700 a month. While not bad I weigh everything with a value system. I’d rather buy another high end watch and get a cheap one pay than lease a car I’m not in love with. I’m in love with the $500 deal.

P.s. the net deal is even less attractive. In Las Vegas, it’s $2000 to register. So add another 4k to the total. Passsss

It’s not true.

I get that you are comparing it to an ICE Mercedes but IMO thats unfair. If you can find one for sub $500, it’s a fantastic EV. Has easily the best range I have ever had, the charging is free and speedy and it’s incredibly comfortable. It’s a road trip machine!

Yes, the UX is ugly and it looks like an eggplant but if you were EV-curious, this is a great intro IMO. I am also saying this as someone with multiple EVs that Mercedes did get a lot of things right, if you can score a deal on them. At the retail price, it’s insanity.

That is 100% not true. Tell them to punch your zip code into the MBFS system. They don’t know what they’re talking about

Honestly, I probably could have written those six words instead of what I wrote and the same point would have applied.

I think its a great car for $500ish (maybe a tad more if the color/options were there)…but as a flagship EV with a normal 4 digit payment (that probably would start with a 2)…:prohibited:

Lol that defeats my chances for sure!

I mean if you are not CA, you can get on it.

I am not in CA. What I mean is that it doesn’t help the average person on here trying to score a deal. It just adds competition. I am about ready to throw in the towel. I have put out EVERY single feeler possible and nothing.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve driven plenty of different ICE S Classes over the years since I started driving , and we’ve had a few in the family during the 90’s/ early 2000’s and this EQS ranks right up there in terms of driving characteristics etc .

It’s large, heavy, quiet and eats up potholes/expansion joints. It’s a highway cruiser just like it’s ICE brother. That’s what an S Class is.

Looks might be totally different with its EV “architecture” but it def feels like an S Class and drives like one.

I’m alittle old school, so Im accustomed to staring at a 3 pointed hood star on the hood when driving but MB has pretty much done away with that on all their cars (except of course the ICE S Class)

If you’re getting one of these type of unicorn deals, it’s def worth the money. Trust me

No doubt on any of these fronts…

The key, at least for me though would be, this thing has to come at a discount.

Local dealer has 2 listed as used but both under 500 miles. Could these be demos? Both are 580’s though.

The 580s have a worse residual (and the rebates make up a smaller % of the MSRP). Can still be a good deal if you specifically want a 580, but don’t expect to get a number in the range of some of the better deals that have been posted here.
