May have the golden ticket? Friend who works at dealership + Rav4 Prime

Well so far no one has been able to beat it but if any brokers out there can beat $33,650 would love to save myself a trip to TX! It’s been 13 years since I’ve last purchased so open to suggestions and tips.

Are you saying for $4K below MSRP (which I don’t think you actually have) or the actual sale price? I’m pretty sure the sales price your friend quoted you is not $4K off.

There’s one broker in California who is offering RAV4 hybrids at $1K below MSRP. Including shipping or traveling, I assume that this is actually pretty similar to what your friend is offering you.

Man … 4k off, did someone scratch the hood or something else that would lower it’s value that much.

Why is everyone questioning the $33.5k being the product of $4k off MSRP? RAV4 Hybrid SE has MSRP of about $37k…

This is what I see when I go to the Toyota website. I assume this is w/o DPH. DPH is $2.5K?

They never include destination on the website. Also nearly impossible to find anything built as a base model these days, if he’s shopping in Texas even more so. Most of my se hybrids are 37-39k msrp and I get them at invoice. Can’t see his “friend” selling one for under invoice there just no reason to. These are pretty easy to sell at msrp still.

I’m looking at most listings in this area, the MSRP is between $37k and and $39k.

Did they check the box of every single dealer installed accessory?

Msrp with the only available option package selected and the one premium paint color is $37055

Do any of the dealer accessories actually get residualized or are they just like any other dealer add on? Toyota’s website shows them all as add ons done by the distributor, not Toyota (may be different in non-SET areas though).

It’s too much work to analyze a bunch of random window stickers. Don’t really have skin in the game. It’s easier if OP just post the one he’s considering. My point was majority of the cars listed on the market have an MSRP of 37-39k.

It’s a point well-taken. And I agree it’d be easier if the OP would simply post what the MSRP is of the specific cars he’s looking at (b/c they’re looking at “regular” hybrid and a PHEV RAV4?).

I actually hope that his friend really can offer him $4K off MSRP, but…

Decided to go with the XSE Hybrid bc it’s still a $4k under msrp. About to sign today unless someone thinks they can beat it. Sunroof + 10” screen. Don’t think it comes w JBL but don’t really care about that.

May just pay for the shipping vs flying out but here it is

$4000 off but factor in $1200 shipping and $140 more in higher doc fee so net $2660 discount which is still as good as it gets on this. I would just sign it, no one in CA is desperate enough to outbid that

Whats their price on a Prime? It will be higher but depending on the numbers it may be a better value prop.

The image you posted doesn’t show $4k off MSRP. It shows $4k off “Market Value Selling Price”. What is the MSRP of the vehicle you’re considering?

Sadly, I think this is the first time that’s ever happened here (since I’ve been around). We see so many stories of being getting a horrible deal from “friend[s].”

Exactly. Is it true $4k off MSRP?

Post the window sticker. A bit skep unless your friend owns the dealership. If that’s the case buy him a nice Xmas gift bc they’re losing a lot of money on this

No one needs to sell a hybrid rav. They’re not hard to move. I could see maybe 3k off if it was red but even then it’s a great price

According to Toyota’s website, the MSRP for a RAV4 XSE Hybrid with no options in Texas is $38,930. So there does not appear to be much if any markup included in the “Market Value Selling Price.”
