Maserati Ghibli SQ4 vs. Jaguar XJL Portfolio

2017 Maserati Ghibli S Q4

MSRP 86,000

Monthly 679/mo

0 down

36mo - 5k annually

Only options is the performance package. Thoughts on this deal? I dont know moneh factor or RV yet…planning to ask today.

I am comparing the Maserati to a:

2016 Jaguar XJL with Portfolio package

MSRP 89,600

Monthly 699/mo

4500 down payment

36mo - 7.5k miles annually

Money factor: .00118

Residual Value: 45%

What in your opinion is a better deal? I know 0 down in a lease is good, but given the high end Jag it might be worth it. Which one would hold its value best? Both havr comprehensive care/service throughout the course of the lease and decent warranty’s (Jag winning here). Reqding reviews, the reviewers find it difficult to choose one over the other

Totally different cars. The sq4 competes with the xfr, not the xj. Both are horrible resales. All really depends on what you want. My advice, if you are looking to combine luxury and sport into one car, don’t. It never works. Buy two cars instead, that’s what I did after having driven both those cars.

Xjl if you have a friend that can drive you. SQ4 if you want zip around in style. Both cars no the best lease due to low RV. This would be a preference over value deal.

I am just looking for luxury, it just so happens these also have a “sport” design. Based on this it seems that the XJL and Ghibli SQ4 are more of a head to head than the XF: http://autonationdrive.com/head-head-2016-maserati-ghibli-vs-2016-jaguar-xj/

What does this even mean? What does it being a “high end Jag” have to do with the rationale (or lack thereof) of putting 4,500 as a cap cost reduction?

If you’re not buying it, why do you care? Trust us, you’re not going to end up with equity in either one.

I’m not sure what the RV or Money Factor are yet on the Maserati, but I’ll check at the dealership today.

high end meaning all the bells and whistles you could add for the model

value in the event I want to buy in the end, just a curiosity, but not a factor in moving forward

I stopped reading at the first line. “In the world of opulent full-size sedans…” yeah, the Ghibli is nowhere close to being a full size sedan.

Have you driven both? Xj is much bigger. I have owned an xf, and almost bought both the xj and ghibli (different times, not cross shopping). The ghibli is nowhere near the luxury of the xj. Some mag might have compared the two, but that is not the right comparison.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve driven the Jag and the Ghibli is later today. I really enjoyed the drive and probably one of the best I’ve ever driven in terms of comfort on the road

I understand what high end means, what does it have to do with putting a large down payment?

You can negotiate a lease with 0 cap cost reduction (AKA down payment).
