[Marketplace] Require full Venmo/CashApp/Zelle payment amount to be disclosed in all posts

As the title says, rather than requiring broker fees to be disclosed in all posts, instead require the amount due to the broker to be disclosed. This is an easy win-win for both brokers and customers:

  • Customers know exactly how much they will be sending brokers, especially since the usual payment collection methods like Venmo and Zelle have no buyer protections.
  • Brokers don’t have to breakdown each individual part of the amount they collect, which will keep them from having prolonged back and forths with customers over this.

Why not both?

Hello,

As always, we are happy to clarify any confused. When we responded to @Jon, we specifically stated that there is “no additional broker fee” and that our listed pricing is “inclusive of broker fees). This is to clear the confusion and common question receive of “how much is your broker fee on top?”.

As for the $2,000 Zelle request, we do, on occasion, process funds for our clients to remit to dealers directly (now I will not post those transactions publicly, to protect private banking info and dealer identity, but I’ll be more than happy to share a log with a moderator to confirm). Every deal is different and there is not a set standard to how we process every deal as we do work with numerous dealers, however all of our quotes are set in stone for the ads we post and we do not take additional commission on top of the listed pricing. The only time a quote deviates is for poor credit, shipping, or if we switch to a higher msrp vehicle (per a client’s request of course).

If you would like a private dialogue, I am more than happy, but we’d appreciate not putting businesses on “blast” publicly without having even completed a transaction with us.

Best,

Don’t brokers do this already anyway? I’d assume any money you send a broker goes in their pocket or kicked back to people up the food chain that are making said deal possible.

End of the day all that matters to me, when using a broker, is if I can beat their price + their fee on my own.

I’m with Jim. No one cares. The Hyundai fee guy was an exception of someone who just needs to either get laid or drink more. Let brokers broker. If they don’t deliver or change the game on you, then drag them through the mud. Otherwise, be quiet and enjoy your vehicle in good health.

Ideally yes. Though i assume that approach would be less popular with some brokers.

Clearly not

If you really wanted to help folks, let the number of completed transactions be public next to each broker as well as an average rating on a 5 point scale, similar to Uber/Google/eBay.

I think the problem is there’s only a handful of brokers I’d touch on this forum. I know who the good ones are, and some others probably do too. It appears to be the lesser known ones that cause even the smallest bit of friction…

I understand we have the review page for each broker, but it’s nearly impossible for anyone to quantify that page thoroughly to a true trust level.

This. 100% a task only for adults that can handle their shit in the real world.

So less transparency by combining any amount that may be a broker fee, deposit, DAS, etc. to where it really isn’t known what is what? Makes sense and totally checks out.
