Luxury Lease - CLA vs 320 xi - DC/NoVA

Hi All!

Curious about the following 2 potential leases:

  1. 2018 Mercedes CLA - $4K down (including taxes/fees) + $350/month (12k/annual)
  2. 2017 BMW 320i (with X Drive) - $4K down (including taxes/fees) + $330/month (12k/annual) - demo car with 5K miles.

Either of these sound decent to sign?

No. Seems like you should do a lot more research on leasing before trying to negotiate a lease.

Even for the CLA which isn’t known to lease exceptionally well, that offer is bad.
For the 320i which is more lease-friendly that is a bad deal as well

You didn’t tell us MSRP, money factor, residual, fees, etc. You need to read up on what constitutes a lease and what a good lease is because clearly you didn’t. If you don’t want to do the work, I’d recommend a broker. Many people hate the CLA after they get it so you may want to rethink it. Or reconsider whether you want a luxury car because neither is very luxurious. Me thinks you want a status symbol when you can get a much nicer car for less money.

Both are terrible deals. Add to the fact that the the BMW is almost last year’s model and a used demo car.

Full disclosure - I know nothing about cars other than having a history of being taken advantage of at the dealership. I actually did hire a broker, and these are the offers he found!

Looks like I need to do a lot more research and look for a better broker… Thanks again!
