Looking to Lease for Turo posting

Looking to lease for posting at Turo. So needs to be a great deal, reliable car and desirable by renters in the Bay Area (will lease from any dealer within few hundreds miles to get the best deal).

Treats it as an investment so willing to compromise (doesn’t have to meet my personal taste) on things like color, model year, luxury equipment etc.

Any suggestions?

I might be wrong, but I believe you cant rent out a car on Turo if you lease.

Search, renting leased cars on Turo has been discussed before. Like @ralphsaphony said, most brands will not let you.

There are tons of people that do that, so I assume at least some brands do.
BTW, where is the limitation coming from? The manufacturer, the lender or the dealer? Why would they mind or even have a say in that manner?

Most manufacturer captive leasing arms prohibit activity like this explicitly in the terms of the lease contract.

I see. Well, it’s possible to use other lenders (USBank for instance).
But anyways, leaving the lease limitations aside, any recommendations about make/model/deal?

What they don’t know doesn’t hurt them? :stuck_out_tongue:

I won’t do anything to violate the lease’s terms. Worst case, I’ll finance. Or drop the idea.

I know the luxury brands do not let you and if you are caught, you are forced to pay for entire car with no finance option through that brand. This is what Lexus told me when I asked.

So after Lexus told you that, you still went ahead and rented out your GS on Turo?

Lol basically. I could by it if I wanted to if it came to that. This website makes you think other wise to lease nice cars for cheap

My wife wonders same thing as you on my logic haha. This Lexus has me doing dumb stuff!

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission holds true. I wouldn’t simply because I don’t like other people driving my cars (especially valet, lol)

I’m wondering what happens though, will it be considered a default on your credit in terms of the lease.

If it’s a buyout they want then you figure it out. It would probably ding you to have a really short loan out.

I am not a financial expert in any stretch, but I suspect real estate investment could be a lot safer and more lucrative than any Turo attempts.

You should read some reviews of Turo customer service

I reached out to Getaround on this topic. Toyota invested in Getaround and had a beta program that let Toyota lease customers post cars on the site. The program has since ended though the rep at Getaround gave me the name of the local Lexus dealership that leases cars for the purpose of putting them on Getaround. I never followed up with them since I assumed they would stick me in a commercial lease with no manufacturer support. Happy to share the name, just PM me.

Seems like a leased Mercedes Benz and Turo would get along just fine: http://www.autonews.com/article/20180122/MOBILITY/180129991/

Getaround also offered Audi and MB lease promos a couple of years ago.

I believe the official car of Turo is the 5-year-old high mileage Mustang convertible. There are a million of those that rent for way too much. Unsophisticated vacationers love them.
