Looking to get into a q50 red sport but not sure what to do with my current lease

Hi. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m new here. I would like to start by saying thank you all for sharing your knowledge on this forum the amount I’ve learned in the past few days since finding this site has been amazing. Like the title states im looking to get into a q50 RS but I currently have 5 months of payments left on a 2015 Chevy Silverado. The residual is $23750 and the buyout it 27144 (that includes $1688 in taxes, NJ). In your opinions what do you think my best option would be? Not sure if there’s a way to get out early when stepping into a Infiniti lease without rolling all the payments into the new lease. Even if I have to wait till say 3 months out that would be fine also. Thanks for any help with this.

See if vroom or carvana will buy out your car otherwise wait 5 months.

Ok thank you

Unless you have a lease pull ahead from GM (which is only good for another GM), you’re best off sticking it out for the next 5 months. If you bring it to Infiniti, the dealer will certainly try to roll 5 payments of your Silverado into the new lease and hide it. It’s extremely unlikely that you can get close to even your residual from anyone, but let us know if you get a surprising offer. Silverados and GM in general have pretty inflated residuals.

Ok thanks. I’m waiting to hear back from an Infiniti dealer with some numbers today. I’m assuming the numbers I get will be terrible because she is rolling them in. Guess I’ll just have to wait it out.

I scored a great deal on a MB E350 loaner and hope to repeat it in 11 mos again.

I’m not stuck on the red sport I have been looking at MB and BMW also. Do you mind sharing your deal?

It was over 2 years ago and 2017 new E300s were already for sale. The BMW 3 series model is new in 2019, so you can try to get a good deal on 2018s

Unless you’re over miles, what’s the rush?

Guess I just have that 3 year itch.

Best time to get a car is in December so that’s October, November and December car payments you’ll have to make. You may or may not have to eat the last 2 payments as negative equity when trying to get a deal so I think @JamesBond is on the right track to start finding out how much your car is worth now.

would you be eligible for a refund of part of the taxes if you sold early? I don’t know how NJ works. If yes, then you need to deduct that from the negative equity.

Yea I dont think im on the hook for the remaining $1688 thats just the buyout price they gave me and they added the taxes in. Every time ive gotten a buyout price it never included tax like this does. My buyout would be $25,456 clean trade in is just about $23,500 so there is still some negative equity there.

Thats what I was hoping for, if I could find a way to do it now without rolling anything out of this truck into a new car I would but I dont see that happening.I just see fewer and fewer of the 2018’s around and I get worried that come the new year I wont have much bargaining power to get into a 2019.

What did carvana or vroom offer? They’ve offered stupid money on my 80k 2013 2wd ram (almost $20k)

So would think a newer truck might fare better

I also have a 2015 Silverado decently under mileage and due back in December with almost same residual ($23,755). Got Vroom quote yesterday of $23,250 if that’s any reference.

Still waiting to hear back from Vroom. Carvana quoted me $23144 leaving me negative -$2342. Just about my remaining 5 payments. Im just going to wait it out and see what I can do closer to the end of my lease.
EDIT - Vroom wants to give my a whopping $21000 lol

I’m been investigating a return of a GMC Yukon XL. 7 payments left. I’ve been all over the place and it’s the same answer everywhere. Roll the rest of the payments into new lease, wait til lease end or pray of a pull ahead.

Even thought I’ll be over miles, It makes no Financial sense to make a move now at $700/mos with 7 payments to remaining. :expressionless:

My wife’s Acadia was 5000 miles over. Went with a Buick at 4 months left with a pull ahead. Got the mileage fee back two months later. You have to ask for it through the dealer and we got it.
