So have come across three new options that have been giving decent offers. I have not sold to them, but worth checking out when you’re trying to move something.
Revv: getting a lot more action here vs. before. They’re bidding to drive traffic. Last try I got a few bids.
Kargone: decent offers here too and they’ll pay you if they can’t beat CarMax (like GMTV)
Nerdwallet: sell your car with that credit card offer?
I used (or attempted to use) revv to sell my GR Corolla Core. I told the guy it was a Core. The VIN decodes as a Core. He apparently listed it as a Circuit. So the dealer thought they were getting a steal (at the time) paying $43k for a Circuit. Obviously the whole deal got unwound but the Revv rep did send me a $50 gift card for the mixup iirc so all was well
I tried a couple of valuations with nerdwallet. They gave me a valuation for my 2021 QX50 (about $4K below Carvana) but when I entered the VIN for a 9 yr old Volvo I am looking to buy (with higher miles) it punted me to Peddle.com who gave the valuation.
Any recent experiences with Kargone? They are not beating my Carmax offer but are coming close. I was told Carmax might charge me fees while Kargone supposedly takes care of everything and gives you the amount over your residual.
Sold my Toyota to Carmax…no fees. They cut a check to Toyota and an equity check to me. Toyota Financial Services received the payoff check a couple of days later.
I spoke to the manager in person, he said he can only let me know during the purchase process after all paperwork is filled out. They have to contact Hyundai at that moment and confirm buyout.
Update that Kargone and GiveMeTheVin both stopped responding after they couldn’t match my $19k Carmax in-store offer, they guarantee to beat it or give you $100-$200 for the trouble if they can’t. I got a Hyundai dealer to match the offer and used the equity towards a new lease.
Just a small suggestion, maybe mark which sites actually buy your car versus those that sell your information to dealerships. Many sites are lead-generation platforms, not the primary buyers. Instead, they sell your contact information to dealers who may purchase your car, but also try to sell you another vehicle. My phone has been incredibly busy for a week after using CarGurus.
I’m not on this list (yet) but we are a premier car buying service in SoCal & NorCal as well. We have bought many trade ins from our fellow hackers and are partnered with KBB as well. Licensed wholesaler and we do our best to beat Carmax & Carvana at every opportunity. We can also payoff ANY lease
