Leasing car in California with Arizona license

,

Hi Everyone,

I live in Arizona but have family in California, and I’m considering leasing a car from a CA dealership using their address. I still have my Arizona driver’s license. Would this cause any issues with the lease, registration, or insurance? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks for any advice!

Don’t consider that. Tell them to give you a one-way temp tag and do Arizona registration.

I did this few years ago to take CA EV benefits and for that dealer has to register car at CA DMV. There were no issues with using AZ DL license for doing the lease paperwork.
I got the car shipped to AZ and did the relocation of owner process with AZ DMV to get AZ plates.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll look into this!!

Ah gotcha! Thanks for the info!

QQ - couldn’t you have kept the California plates until they expired and then register in AZ?

What car
I can just do a one way permit on all Hyundai deals
Or on my Chevy deals you can register the car your address it will be CA plates and you’ll pay LA sales tax but if you get pulled over you can show your reg with your AZ address!

Just tell them you live in AZ. It’s really not an issue with most brands. They’ll just issue you a temp tag

Good question. I got the AZ plates that time to get access to HOV lane for the EV that is allowed only with AZ alternate fuel vehicle plates.
