Again, IANAL but this reminds me so much of a house rental/roommate situation I had (c. 2000) that ended in small claims court. The roomate was suing us, spoke first, and tried to explain to the judge how she saw things, and he politely invited her to sit while we all got an explainer on property law (and what rights she did not have as renter that she would as owner).
I get that most people don’t understand it, but in the face of an explaination I can’t understand the continued retrenchment. You are a tenant, not the owner. And you even have a fixed price offer to buy (sonething I should have asked for when I rented my house here in CA).
