Transferring a lease from FL to NJ so I haven’t been able to physically inspect the car other than a few photos. Was considering hiring a lease inspector just to ensure the car is as described. Has anyone done so and what’s the approximate cost?
Ive used Carchex…always have had great inspections from them. The cost has usually been $150ish but I havent checked in a few years.

I would explore how much it would cost for an inspection if you’re going to the dealership anyway. It’s basically a quick visual check with it up in the air, plus some other basic checks like oil, etc and can’t be that expensive. If you’re having it inspected you should be able to have a service manager write that there’s nothing visually wrong with the vehicle based on the inspection which holds some weight.
For the disposition fee they normally waive it if you’re buying/leasing another car wi…
This, you’ll be paying the mileage milestone maintenance out of pocket, unless you pay for it or they have ultimate care plus (I believe this transfers).
Full answer, makes sure car looks good, brakes, paint, wheels/rims, etc.
Edit: plus does, and the previous owner can choose to purchase it to let it transfer, and you can as well. Plus also covers brakes, clutches (wtf), and certain consumables google it for more (just what I know from my dealer).
Heres an interesting note…
I just had my lease end inspection an hour ago.
This was done by Autovin, a third party, on behalf of BMW.
He asked for both keys and if the manual was in the car, which I said it was.
But after the inspection he said he couldnt find the manual, so I guess its still in my filing cabinet.
But also said BMW wont charge for it, so dont worry. However, he said if I had the inspection done at the BMW dealer then they would have charged $100.
Also worth noting, the car…

Ideally you’d want the seller to agree to take the car to an independent mechanic of your choosing (PPI at your expense) and put it on a lift

It’s 2021. How about you get on FaceTime with the seller and have him do a thorough walk around with you .
You can specifically ask what you want to see and have him/her zoom in up close.
Technology is amazing right?

Ha, great idea @TheBigTuna . (and great username)
A quick FaceTime I think is good for an initial evaluation, but you will not really be left with a definitive document of any sort which confirms the condition of the car.
This is the usual risk/reward decision. I have done probably 20 swaps over the years, I can think of a couple of cases off hand where I didn’t spring for the inspection and I wish I had😢. Of course, the best end result is that the inspection is a complete waste of $129.95!
