Lease support for 2020 BMW?

, ,

Hello everyone - first time posting here. Have learned a ton from reading. Thank you everyone for all the knowledge shared!

I am searching for a deal on a X3M. I asked in the edmunds forums to find out what the MF and residual would be for a 2020 demo or loaner, and they told me there was no lease support in my area (I am in the DC metro area). I went to the BMW dealer this past week to check out a X3M, and they offered me a lease deal on a 2020 demo they had.

Can someone explain why they were able to offer a lease on a 2020 if there is no support here?

Thank you

There is 2020 support, edmunds is wrong.

$3000 lease cash, assuming 55% residual for 36/10

@Lazarus Thank you for clarifying! Is it the same MF for an executive demo or loaner? .0086?

Yes the same… base that is, up to 40 pt markup.

@Lazarus does Texas have the same support?

As far as I know edmunds is wrong, I’m still working on '20s in the same area that dcdealfinder is in.

I would ask @Electric and @IAC about Texas

Texas has 20 support afaik.

Should have shouted you out, you gave me something to work for.

Damn bmw collectors.

cough cough Encinitas, Rochester hills, braman, etc etc

And, in case its helpful…

(EDIT…I MADE THE SAME DIGIT TYPO!!!)

Each “point” of the money factor (MF) is 0.00001. So, a 40 pt markup means 0.00040 MORE than the base MF. The current base MF with BMW (it will generally change every month) is 0.00086, so the maximum the dealer can charge is 0.00126 at this time.

Im sure its a typo, but note that the MF you posted should have THREE zeros prior to the 86. If you use two in your calculations youll be sadly disappointed in the end result payments. Youll be using 1970s interest rates of 20%+ :frowning:

I cant even image what we would do on this board if the MFs went to those types of levels…

You have those up your way too? I have quite a number of local dealers here near Tampa that seem to have personal attachment to their inventory and resist selling them at nearly all costs.

Another thing to watch-----

BMW changed the policy of leasing loaners a week or two ago. My understanding (as explained to me by a dealer)—

They now must have at least 4500 miles on them and have been in service for at least 4 months. I believe the mileage cap is now 7500 miles (it used to be 5000), but another dealer told me the mileage cap is 10,000. Perhaps someone else on the board can confirm which is correct. As an aside though, a demo with 10k miles on it would need to have a crazy high discount to be worth it IMO (as something like tires, maintenance expiry, etc) would be a real concern.

I believe they need to have 2500 miles atleast before they can pull it out of loaner service and retire it.

@spockvr6 definitely a typo! I guess that’s what happens when you research until you’re falling asleep at the computer :joy:.

The X3M that they were offering me had under 50 miles on it. It was an executive demo that was never driven.

Was the GM using it as his personal driveway trophy ? :joy:

@mani_is_kool haha sounds like that may have been the case!

M5 in Kentucky and m5 in indiana have the same tags as exec demo with less than 500 miles on them.

Weird no?

4k-7.5k is the new standard.

Theres another 70-75 days or so of lease support left on 2020 models.
