Did you confirm buy rate with them? Discount looks okay but these were going for MUCH less last month, so $800+ is tough to justify on this car. I couldn’t stomach it. We test drove the EV9 GT-Line and immediately ruled it out. Probably among the most disappointing cars I’ve ever driven. If you want an economy 3-row, get the Ioniq 9. It’s better in every possible way and you should be able to land in the same spot.

I am ok with the EV9, I have a few Ioniq 9’s in the loop right now… I think I should be able to get the discount a bit more.. He did give me the correct rate as far as the 24 month, waiting on the 36 month MF. I am trying for a bit under $700 as a monthly lease. We have 2024 Blazer RS EV’s coming off lease that we got at a great rate/residual 2 years ago. We can’t buy them as it would be cost prohibitive.

Best quote I got on the Ioniq 9 was a calligraphy unit for $549+ tax and $0 DAS back in April (24/15k). I didn’t bother shopping Kia leases since I hated the test drive but I certainly wouldn’t pay more for it over the Hyundai equivalent.
The only way you achieve $700 is with $12-13% dealer discount. Not sure if achievable but best chance is at Midwest dealers. They’re being snobby right now because of lower inventory but I think they’re selling pretty slowly so they’ll start to give as we approach end of Q

I know, but how much is that really going to affect it? Seems like it’s a bit higher no matter what. If I don’t pay any dealer fees, dmv, acquisition up front I get: $789
I am going to keep hitting dealers up in the midwest but I have to account the $2000 or so shipping the car to NY.
Yeah I have been trying, shipping though is killer from there… I am all for the Ioniq 9 just not getting much better no matter where I go… I may have to wait until it gets even closer to end of Q. $549 would be a great deal.. LOL

Keep in mind that there are at least three new three-row SUVs hitting the market later this year: Subaru Getaway, Toyota Highlander EV and Lexus TZ. Even if you aren’t interested in one of those it should put some pressure on Kia/Hyundai to make better deals on the EV9/Ioniq 9.
Did you account for new set of tires if you go for 3 years?
Also just curious, how many times are you going to use the 3rd row?
If you are looking for savings sometimes it is better to lease smaller car and rent minivan for family trips

You know i said the same thing before I signed my current GV70 electrified lease, figured i would just rent a minivan or something with a 3-row when people came to town, or for a car trip.
Twice the car rental place cancelled on me at the last minute (once Avis, the other Enterprise) and i was stuck. Just this past April it forced us to take 2 cars on a 7+ hour road trip as they cancelled 2 hours before pickup, and i had pre-paid.
I agree you that most don’t use the 3rd row often, but it does indeed come in handy in a pinch.
We did 9 hours trip from NYC to Mississauga Canada a week ago with total 5 people and 2 GLCs. I cannot imagine myself seating for 7 hours in the 3rd row except this is a real minivan. I am 5’10".
I remember riding for one hour in the 3rd row in 2026 QX60. It was a torture. LOL.
Fair point - mine would be for the kids (under 10) and dogs.
This is definitely the issue with assuming you can just rent a 7-8 passenger vehicle when you need it. Price will also climb the closer you are to the actual rental date. You need to book a few months out to get the best price and then hope they actually follow through on getting one on the lot when you booked it. I know it’s not just the rental car company screwing you, people turn cars in late and then this pretty much puts everyone in a bind.
Or just rent another “regular” car for those trips.
Keeping expensive 7 seater to use twice a year is not a great financial move unless you have nothing to do with extra money.
