You literally were the next poster after my recommendation to assume another lease to someone else shopping the same car. How does it make any sense to you pay $150 more per month for 36 mos ($5,400) while putting down $7k in MSDs just to save about $3k? What’s the ROI on that?
They way I look at it is I put in $7k now and don’t spend another $3k over three years. It’s like I get back $10k on the $7k. So like 33%. That’s better than my HP stock did in the last 2 years lol
I would not put MSD or any money down. Not worth it. But the cash in the bank. You will make more in interest that you save. Better put in a three year CD.
Your calculation is way off. You’re ignoring monthly price difference which is about $5,400 as I pointed out.
The right way to look at it would be to consider the cash outflow on a transfer which is his down payment ask plus transfer fees less what you would be paying down on your deal which results in ~3k delta. Now you’re going to be spending almost twice as much over the next 36 months and that’s even before your MSDs which are really a completely separate category.
As far as used vs new, it’s a 36 months rental and it’s totally and completely up to you how to price and value newness of another car which will also be used in just a few short months.
Exactly! And your deal is $28,544 plus MSDs. So it’s $100 more per month even without the MSDS ignoring the opportunity costs. Also ignoring that you’re getting 7500 annual versus 10K which is worth about $30 a month additional to those who need them.
Another way to look at it: $3500 for 8,000 Mi translates to about 44.4 cents a mile which is almost double what BMW charges for mileage.
If your end payment is $655/month including tax, then each MSD will be rounded up to the nearest $50, so that will be $700 each (total of $7000 for 10x). It cannot be $750 per MSD. If they’re telling you otherwise, they have something wrong and the bank will not fund that contact if they push it through with $7500 in MSDs vs $7000.
The residual on the i4 M60 with 7500 miles is 56%. On the i4 xDrive40 it’s 57%. The residuals are set by the bank (BMW Financial Services) and cannot be changed.
I have some i4’s left in SoCal that I’m doing 12-13% off MSRP on. Feel free to reach out directly, happy to help: 818-314-1456
Car buying is never a 100% rational decision process. There are many other factors that’s not easy to argue with. When I wanted the used iX or loaner iX, wife decided no ‘used’ cars in any form, so brand new was the way to go. If that makes OP happy, even though the math says otherwise, that’s what matters.
Ask for 13% off MSRP. Not sure if the inventory is limited on these. It doesn’t hurt to ask or shop around. If you have all the math and numbers with you with 13% and if that’s a comfortable monthly, you can offer to sign it right away if they can meet that
A lot of us here try to squeeze every last penny out of a deal and will pick any car to make that happen, but then ignore the people that want to get a “good deal” on the actual car they want. Two camps that are both right.
