Lease cash vs dealer discount explanation when making offers?

not my first time but realize I’m not articulating it that well. checking for some Volvo deals in NJ,I and want to make an offer from:

MSRP - dealer discount % - lease cash (whether taxed or untaxed) and other incentives, to emphasize that they will stack and not just one discount including all that.

Salesperson was adament I have bad info, and they don’t stack, because they aren’t “customer facing”, or "shown on the volvo site, etc.

Ex for XC90 B6+ 3k lease cash, 1k spring bonus, 2k costco exec.

So, just curious if someone has a good ELI5 line they use when talking to sales about this stuff?

Thx

Volvo incentives are often direct to dealer, so the agreed upon selling price on the contract would have both the dealer discount and the lease cash factored in.

That is not the same thing as saying that you can’t stack lease cash and a dealer discount; they are just both included in the same place on the contract rather than lease cash being separately itemized.

Build your target offer based on attainable dealer discount before any and all direct to dealer and/or customer rebates available (conditional or otherwise). Use the LH calc to see what monthly payment this yields (using estimated dealer and gov fees), structuring the deal however you like. Make them an offer, and tell them you’ll sign if they can get there.

Doing it this way obviates the need to specify what discount you are going expecting.

You can spell out every line item, but in this case I would just bake in the dealer cash into your selling price.

And a benefit of a direct to dealer incentive is that they’re not taxed, saving some dough.

Downside is that it can be harder to break down what’s a conditional incentive and what’s a dealer discount.

Fortunately, if you’re making an offer instead of asking for a quote, there’s no need to decipher what they give you

this is true. i didnt even get up to the making an offer stage. talked on phone for a minute saying i was going to and just giving the variable, month/mileage, etc, thats when he started going on that i have my info wrong. mainly just trying to make the point that my offer is meant to have dealer discount + these incentives.
