Leaf Lease Return

Hi,

This is my first post. I have been researching the forum for a while but not getting a clear answer.

I have a Nissan leaf - Lease started in Feb 2015 and is going to end on Feb 2018. I have 7 months left on the lease. I don’t want to keep the car, and plan to lease another car preferably Audi Q5 or MB 250/300.

From the different post that I read till now

  1. it seems that the best option would be swap the lease instead of trying to return the car back to Nissan.
  2. Check CarMax and see if you can sell it to them
  3. Car cannot be swapped if only 6 months is left.

What should I do ? Most of the lease return questions are for premium cars, not sure if they apply to Nissan leaf. Is it a good idea to swap this car for an Audi or MB. Or should I wait for the lease period to end ? Is major holidays the best time to shop for a lease ?

Any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated

7 months might still be too far out for most dealers to pull you ahead. It’s doable but if you wait 2 months (5-6 months before lease end), you’ll start seeing the ads pouring in from the mail. Probably not from luxury car dealers but they’ll start coming in.
