KIA takes a stand on broker deals

interesting - this means customers have to be mindful about this situation too. stupid move on the part of both these brands.

I don’t tell customers to lie about it. My dealers all have gotten the slap on the wrist for not disclosing they used a broker so they all follow the rules now. Many didn’t even know they had to initially.

As for Kia there could def be issues as they seem to be trying to eliminate brokers working that brand. Shame bc they have some good options for hackers with low budgets.

Couldn’t pass up two for the price of one.

It’s certainly was a wake up call for me to start targeting more clueless 25-30yr olds on instagram and charging them much much more for getting them much better deals then he does

Im still disappointed @BenzsandBowties wasn’t a real account.

He’s basically turned social into nationwide lead-gen. He doesn’t need to fire sale budget leases if people watch his reel then want to pay MSRP.

best was when he flexed about selling “300” last month. also, kia did similar note several years ago.

With 10 employees…

I can’t stand that he acts like some kind of authority when he got chased off this site in a matter of hours after some plant of his started dropping his name.

I don’t fire sale leases.. to be clear, the G580 for $999 per month was an April Fools joke.

Hello my friend, I’m not understanding what G580’s “sitting” for sale has to do with my comment about Tomi?

Fair comment. I don’t talk about this much, but it’s intentionally grammatically incorrect. A little separation from the mothership.

Still think it’s hilarious how CDG takes this massive anti-broker stance, platforming the dealers who are complaining about brokers the most, while ALSO glazing….a broker who claims he’s not a broker. All in the name of clicks and monetization, I assume. Same with that WSJ article - note the timing of all of this. It’s not much of a stretch to assume some higher ups at manufacturers saw this article and decided to send a “reminder” to dealers about how they’re likely incorrectly reporting sales. Will some dealers pull back? Absolutely. Most, though, will continue to operate as usual, because their job is to move metal for the manufacturer, and a proper broker channel done correctly (i.e. in-store pickup, home delivery by the dealer, etc) will always bring better sales than most BDC leads.

This is the correct take. They’ve also failed to point out that if all dealers operated in a transparent, ethical manner, brokers wouldn’t exist. It seemed like the chief concern of the dealers (on CDG) in regards to brokers was eroding margins, not that they provide a better experience for the customer.

This to me is the biggest point that needs to be addressed/regulated. If a contract is between a dealer and the customer, the signing and delivery should only be done by an authorized representative of the dealer (save for something like Maverick). Anything else is a massive liability risk and I don’t understand why certain stores encourage it.

Since his platform has gotten bigger I have always assumed that CDG is some sort of industry plant. For a guy who was all about peeling back the curtain on the industry he certainly has amassed a nice collection of industry bigs that are cozy with him. His goal seems to be more focused on steering conversations and business towards certain directions, how else do you explain Paragon Honda having such a great relationship with a guy who is supposed to be looking out for people? The same can be said about Tomi and Delivrd. His platform and branding grew way too quickly and was quite polished for someone who is essentially doing this from his basement. People hate the dealership experience, we all know that. So what’s the play? Actually change it into something that people are happy with, which would require untold dollars, hours of retraining and even more employee churn? Or give people the feeling of “saving time and anxiety”, maybe even feel like they are saving a little bit of money (but that’s just a byproduct!), in exchange for paying a fee? Disney has been doing this crap for years at their parks: make things as aggravating as possible but offer pricey add ones to jump lines and save time and aggravation. Eventually every big dealer network will have a Tomi of their own, some kind of premium concierge service. I think Tomi is onto something when he says that saving money isn’t a top priority for his clients. People want to FEEL like they got a good deal and if you’re paying extra for the privilege, how could it not be a good deal? How many people pay Costco just to enter their stores and feel like they saved money?

His content has changed a ton compared to ~2-3 years ago. Genuinely found some of it pretty interesting until recently.

Your showroom has three 2025 model year S580 on the floor. If you match @djrabbi ‘s 13 month lease deal to move these while there’s lease support, LH will gladly help you clear inventory.

I’d be surprised if you haven’t been inundated with requests on these already.

S336391
S338423
S337099 (White on brown… ugh)

where do i sign lol

I sense a typical sales reply incoming… “Show me a contract with those numbers and I’ll give you $100.” Would love if that happened and DJ Cappi came back with the receipts

Nah, Doug’s said in the past he doesn’t like devaluing the Benz nameplate/brand or their own showroom with big discounts.

They’ll probably kick stale inventory to the used floor plan at a sister dealer. Or just auction for a loss. They won’t paper triple net and buy rate to customers. This preserves their policy to avoid bottom feeders hunting low payments haha.

I don’t think he cares to publicly compete on a low price. But a shadow group buy via LH could get rid of stale units without sullying the showroom.
