Just Leased a 2016 M235i Convertible...Here's the Deal!

I just leased a 2016 M235i Convertible (manual transmission) from Washington. I’m in California, so I had the car shipped over. This particular car has thousands of dollars worth of M Performance Parts on it, hence the high MSRP. Given that, plus the fact it was the only manual transmission M235i convertible left in the country, I felt pretty good about the deal below. Hopefully these numbers help someone else looking for a similar vehicle.

First Payment: $551.63
Washington Doc Fee: $150.00
CA Registration: $470.00
Tax on loyalty rebate: $85.00
Total Drive Off $1,256.63

Cost to ship the car from Washington to CA was $375.

I decided against using MSDs primarily because I want to keep the flexibility of trading out of the lease in the event that I decide to hop into a M2 next year. It’s much easier to trade out of leases without MSDs/cash exchanging hands.

Very nice deal. Dealership name, please?

Thanks. Did you deal with Mark?

No, I worked with Bruce Linicicome

MSRP: $62,095 LMAO for an M235i

the BMW M2 which is hailed as the best BMW to be created this decade has a starting MSRP of $51,700. One question I have to ask is WHY get the M235i over the M2???

A few reasons…

  1. I wanted a convertible
  2. My payment on a M2 would have been almost double
  3. There will likely be a new M2 variant released next summer with more hp.
  4. Waitlists for M2s are long and I needed a car now
  5. I’m already on the list for a M2, but have moved my spot to a MY2018 allocation so I can see what the new variant (M2 CS?) is all about and so I can take advantage of the LCI updates which are rolling out to the entire 2 series range next summer.

I’ll eventually end up with a M2… But now is not the right time.

You also have to remember the MSRP of my convertible is somewhat irrelevant because the lease rates were so attractive. Brings the payment down to a very reasonable level for this car, regardless of MSRP.

What is there to “LMAO” about?

You can LMAO when you post an M2 deal better than this.

Bumping this thread up as I am now looking to transfer the lease on the M235i Convertible. Took delivery of my M2.

@TheLeaseExpert do you mind sharing your numbers?! I would really appreciate it.

My crystal ball says he’s got 19 months left on a $552/mo payment for a $62k MSRP M235i convertible. # of miles TBD.

How close am I?

I’d say you are pretty spot on. And depending on # of miles I think an incentive is needed to get this thing going

Almost spit a very tasty pinot all over brand new white sheets. Well played sir.

Jajajajaja. I should have been more specific, share his numbers on the M2 he just got delivered!

@TheleaseExpert if you don’t mind sharing your M2 numbers.

NO DOWN PAYMENT OR MSDs!

BMW Lease Transfer Fee: $542 paid out to BMW directly, not me. However, I will reimburse the full $542 cost at the completion of the lease transfer to the new owner.

The lease transfer process takes roughly 7-10 business days to complete. The process time can be as quick as 5 days if both parties are quick to fill out forms, talk to BMW, etc. I will work closely with the buyer to ensure a quick and smooth transaction.

Here is how the lease transfer process works:

Step 1: I will have BMW send you a credit app to complete. You will receive the link via email and be asked to pay a $542 transfer fee online directly to BMW. If you do not meet their credit requirements, BMW will refund $400 of the $542 back to you. They will keep the remainder for their processing fees. I will not reimburse any funds paid/lost due to a rejected credit application. If your credit is approved, then we move forward to Step 2.

Step 2: After your credit is approved, BMW will email both you and I a few forms to complete. These forms need to be signed/completed and mailed back to BMW. Once they receive the forms from both sides, they will send each of us email confirmations stating the documents have been received and are under review. We will then move to Step 3.

Step 3: This is the final step in the process. BMW sends us both an email confirming all documentation has been reviewed and completed accurately, which then allows me to release the vehicle to you. When you come to pick up the vehicle, I will provide you with cash or a check for $542 to cover your transfer/application fees.

So basically, I am looking for a clean transfer. No down payments or security deposits to worry about. Plus, I’m covering your $542 fee. Based on how loaded this vehicle is, this is a very attractive payment. I love this car and have taken exceptional care of her over the past year+, so I’m looking forward to sending her to a great home.

The car is located in Danville, CA and is available immediately. I am open to shipping the vehicle if buyer sets up the shipping logistics and pays all shipping costs.

Please reach out to me with any questions. Thanks!

No, you can’t. Unless BMW does not require car to be returned in the original condition.

I’ve confirmed this already with BMW Corporate. Because the parts are OEM parts, they are OK with the car being returned with them. They do not care about the tint. This is my 9th BMW lease in 16 years so I’m confident in my statement.

That’s why you are the lease expert. I wonder if other brands as forgiving.
