Issue with taxes in Texas. Not able to register my Volvo

,

So basically, they have tricked me. I already paid them the half as I could not reach any other agreement with them. After I get my car register and my tags, I will see what I can do next. Planning to call VCFS to explain them this situation.

How did they trick you? You owe the remaining tax balance one way or the other.

OP stated they wanted full 4k tax, after collecting 3k in tax. Total7k in tax

Did OP state how much he actually paid the dealer in taxes today? Did I miss where he paid them $4k today? Not trying to be a smart a$$…asking honest question.

He only owes the about $1k.

This doesn’t state how much additional tax he paid today.

I read it here but yes its very vague and confusing

I read it as, the 3k is gone i owe 4k and the dealer made me cough up 2k

Sorry, English is not my first language. I did pay half of the total taxes owned to TX DMV. The total of taxes is $4300 so I paid $2150.

So, did Volvo Financial pay the TX DMV the $3000 that’s on your contract?

According to the dealer, nothing was paid to the DMV. They said that they are going to send a check of $4300 to DMV the get the car registered. I asked them for proof of that. Still waiting.

Then where did the $3xxx on the contract for sales tax go?

That’s what I would like to know as well. Is that something that VCFS could answer or help with? The dealership kept saying nothing is going toward the taxes…

I would venture to guess VCFS will send you to the dealership.

I would think Volvo Financial would know if they paid any sales taxes on your behalf to the state.

Also, if the contract indicates that $3xxx of the deal went to sales tax and that money did not go towards sales tax, isn’t that fraud? Where did that money go in the deal?

If you can’t get any satisfaction from the dealer or Volvo Financial I’d go to social media and give bad reviews. That usually gets the dealer’s attention. Have you gotten your review from Volvo yet?

I just got off the phone with VCFS and they told me they only approved the lease but didn’t collect or pay any sales tax. They pointed to line #16 on the lease (Monthly Sales/Use Tax), which says “N/A,” and said that’s why.

I tried to explain that I thought taxes were included in the gross capitalized cost, but the rep didn’t really get it and just told me to talk to the dealer.

Right now, I’m just trying to get my registration and license plates done so I can legally drive the car. They’re still holding my $4,000 security deposit too, so I’m nervous about making too much noise in case they make things harder.

Because Texas doesn’t have a monthly tax on leases.

You should be making more noise, not less. Double collecting tax is fraud.

VCFS is holding it, not the dealer. So you’ll get it back at lease end.

Don’t worry about 4K that will definitely go back to you at the end of the lease.

Did you ask about line 25b?

That’s good to know. I was afraid they will use any excuse to try to keep my 4K.
I am just trying to get proof that they have sent the check to TX DMV. After I get my license plates, I will start taking actions, one of them being sharing my experience in Google.
The dealer stopped answering my emails but I will try to call them and ask about the line 25b again, once I get my tags.
Appreciate the support, this whole thing has been more stressful than it should be.

Finally I got my tag and license plates. I just sent them an email asking about the line 25.b. I will wait one day for their reply before taking further actions.
