Is this a bad deal for a BMW X3 lease?

Hi all,

Looking to lease a car before the end of this month. Visited a BMW dealership in NYC and was offered the below on a 2017 X328 xdrive lease:

navigation, rear view camera, heated front seats, and apple car play. 36/10k, taxes and acquisition fee paid upfront, $558/mo. The sales price for the car is 46k, RV: 30k.

Also, i qualify for a corporate discount from my company and the selling price goes down to 42k or $441/mo. After reading up on deals from last year (I think I saw one with more options than mine at a cost of $390/mo), it looks like my offer is insultingly high. Is my thinking correct?

BMW has significantly changed their lease structures in 2017. You will not get anywhere close to a 2016 deal now. MF are up, MSDs are gone, and so on.

Also if you do qualify for fleet discount through your company realize that will be cut by 2/3rds in June so if you really want a BMW work to get your deal done here in May.

To judge your deal we need to know-

MSRP
Selling price
Incentives you qualify for (corporate fleet?)
MF they are quoting you
Any cap cost reduction they are asking you to put in

Thank you for this info!

Here’s some more info:
MSRP - 48,500
Selling price - 46,000
Not sure what my discount is but appears that the fleet discount drops selling price to $42,000
Residual value is 30,000
MF - .0015
36/10k

No capitalized cost reductions.

Don’t go to NYC BMW they are thieves

Well they are at about 5% off MSRP. Considering it is a dealer in NYC that is actually probably not too bad.

When I run your numbers with the fleet discount I’m getting $513 a month. But I’m not up on all the rules for a New York lease (I’m in California).

Note that fleet is $1,500 on an X3. I’m not sure how you are getting from $46K selling price down to $42K with the fleet discount.

I’d say that is not a great deal. I’d also say it may be that you simply can not get a great deal on an X3 with the present lack of BMW incentives. If you were in California I’d say you can get another $500-$1,000 off the purchase price. Don’t know what if possible there on the east coast but I’d be reaching out to every nearby dealer and see if someone will come down even lower to move another car this weekend. Dropping another $1K off the selling price puts you at 7% off and pretty close to the payment being 1% of MSRP.

I think you will see some great deals on the X3 in a month or two since a complete redesign is on the horizon. Last June or July is when the factory started offering incentives on the 5 series due to it’s redesign.

That was before they decided to de-emphasize leasing. Somehow I doubt RV will increase or MF will drop. You might see purchase incentives this summer.

There are a ton of dealers esp if you’re willing to look a 100-150 mile radius.

True but the RV is already at 64%. A little factory cash incentive could have a significant impact on the payment. It will all come down to supply.

I think the transition to the G01 body X3 will be a really interesting test of this new BMWNA strategy. Ideally they will want to have minimal F25 inventory on hand to minimize the price drops. They are going to be helped by the fact that the F25 is selling very well and that production is here in the US so they don’t have to deal with weeks of shipping time. I’m guessing they are going to try and hold the line on price so they don’t have to blow out a bunch of F25’s.

Cars.com says there are 6,570 new X3’s on dealer lots right now. Wonder what that number will be when they officially announce the G01, something that is reportedly happening in September at the Frankfurt auto show.

I would contact BMW of Mt Laurel, and talk to Arie Ouimet

2018 G01 may not be out until almost 2019. Apparently, BMW is retooling their factory for the new X5 and X7 and want to do it all at the same time, so it will depend on when they get everything aligned.

That MSRP and residual value are almost impossible under BMW’s pricing scheme. In other words, you have NOT gotten the correct info from the dealer. And, even Honcker has better leases posted. Stay away from NYC BMW dealers. Go to Jersey or even CT. Good luck.
