Is it just me, or are Kia dealers the worst?

Ok now what is your Max budget and what state are you in

Hey @Yinzer, I’m in California (Los Angeles). I really don’t want to spend more than $350 to $400 a month including tax on a lease or lower mileage CPO. Been there, done that. The Tiguan I’m looking at is actually about $250 and still pretty nice. I might consider higher, but only if it’s something I really like, and I can also put it on Turo a couple of weekends a month and make a decent return. So far the Alfa Stelvio is the only thing I’ve seen that I’d consider going higher for, but I feel like they’re going to continue dropping the lease prices every month.

Yeah there are definitely certain brands I’d probably stay away from strictly because if anything goes wrong with the car going to a nearby dealer would probably be a horrible experience. Unfortunately that includes my local Mazda, Jeep, probably Toyota, and probably Kia.

I’d think with a premium car like the Genisis they’d take care of just about anything. I don’t know mister Hyundai manager sir, but I’d really like to have my new $50k luxury car not wobble when I brake, which I’m pretty sure NASA would replace should the space shuttle need them.

The last car I bought was actually on the showroom floor at a different dealer that tried pulling the whole song and dance with “bullshit window etching markup this” and “bullshit paint sealant markup that” and keeping me there as long as possible. I called up my internet sales guy at their sister dealership the next day and bought the car from him.

Would definitely look demo 330 or C300. You Cali guys got it made when it comes to leasing lol.

We give it all back with interest by paying high prices for gasoline, housing, and taxes.

I actually found the CLA/GLA were easier to get into and out of than the C300/E300 and were more comfortable to sit in because the console was so much lower and I could spread my legs wider.

For me it’s a shoulder room issue. My shoulder is crammed up against the B pillar on the CLA/GLA and even regular C/GLC to an extent.

Yeah sales tax is gonna be over 10% someday soon. That’s just insane. Then look at the roads and infrastructure and wonder where that money’s going.

Have you considered a Jaguar? Been seeing <$400 payments on both the XE and XF recently. Based on your previous comments, the XE might be a little tight (I find the cockpit pretty spacious, but I’m only 5’9"), but the XF would likely be more than sufficient.

I’m in NY, but my Jag dealer was both willing to work over email and very helpful when something went wrong. They drove a loaner to my house (~30min from the dealership), drove my car back, fixed it, and drove it back to me the next day.

Haven’t looked at Jaguar at all, they never really appealed to me. The XE and XF are both sedans?

Yes, they are both sedans. The XE would be their equivalent to a 3-Series or A4, the XF more like the 5-Series or A6.

I hadn’t considered them either until I started reading this forum. I was originally looking for a BMW/Audi/etc until I started reading about other options that leased better. Some say that the interior isn’t quite up to par with Audi or Merc, and I can’t completely disagree but it was certainly an upgrade from my old Mazda :grinning:

Personally, I kinda enjoy being the only Jag in the parking lot full of German cars :sunglasses:

Folks, if looking for a decent Kia dealer and in the NY/NJ/PA area, try reaching out to Murray Kia in the suburbs of Philly. Their Internet Service Mgr (Roger O’Kane) is very responsive and helpful.

cdjr dealerships are by far the worst.

What does CDJR stand for?

Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram.

Milton Friedman once joked that if you put the government in charge of the Sahara Desert in five years there would be a shortage of sand. :open_mouth:

Those brands are all owned by Fiat now, and the group is known as FCA US here. (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles)

Old habits die hard, so CDJR is still very recognizable as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

Reply with my iPhone got totally screwed. Plz delete this reply.

I put in a test drive request for the Stinger to my local dealer when it comes in, and I get a call from a sales guy who called it a “Stin - jer.” Haha

Not sure if anyone reads Reddit Cars but this is the trending topic -

I was recently employed to mystery shop KIA and well it was a very interesting experience.

I arrived and like sharks to blood I was approached by two guys nearly simultaneously. It was like a battle to get the first word out and eye contact. One guy wins , let’s call him Brandon and immediately asks me what I’m looking for. I say I’m here to look at a Stinger. We walk over to the Stinger, he starts talking about it. Nearly every fact he is saying is incorrect. Saying “it’s supercharged and turbo” “has a manual transmission” (points to paddles)”, On top of that I can tell he is trying to connect with me claiming with some absurd statements “This is faster than some supercars” “it has a BMW suspension” “they race these now” “i have a Charger and this is so much better” (ok maybe that one is True) and then he switches to undermining my own vehicle. “ I bet your car now doesn’t have navigation” “it won’t beat this in a drag race” “girls will love this instead” “your car isn’t that shiny does it need a paint job?” “Does your car do 160mph?”

At this point I just roll with it. He’s a rookie perhaps. A massive douchy rookie, but a rookie none the less.

I ask to test drive it. “You’re going to buy it if I pull it out right?” “I won’t let people test these unless they are buyers” . He’s treating this Stinger like it’s a Porsche GT3.

I say “I need to test drive it” he asks for my keys (big mistake) and license.

We go on a test drive and he won’t stop talking. He tells me to pull over and he will drive us back (big mistake #2). He proceeds to mob it through 1st and 2nd gear, bouncing off the limiter even.

We get back, I was supposed to end there, but I need my keys and license back. we head to his desk, At this point he goes all in , running numbers, asking what I want to pay a month. Next I ask for my keys back. “Oh are you sure I was going to have our guys give you a trade in amount, let’s start with your social” I tell him I need the keys. “I can only do that if you let me show you what I can do first” now I realize my keys are hostage. I’m over it, I tell him dude I not buying a car, I’m working you. He doesn’t give up. I ask for the manager, I show the manager my badge, he also looks annoyed as hell, starts telling me how I should rate them and I finally get my keys and license back.

Here’s the kicker, as I walk back to my car the sales guy he had someone move the Stinger behind my car blocking me in.

Needless to say this all went into my report.

If KIA plans on selling $40-50k Stingers they better up their sales staff, because I’ve had better sales experiences on Canal St in NYC.
