Is it a good idea to “trade in” in a lease?

Hey, I’ve been looking at some amg c43 lease deals and I’ve been wondering if its a good idea to trade in my 2014 cadillac ats. The estimated trade in value is around 15k and I still own almost 18k so yeah im a little upside down. In the end I dont know if I should do it or wait till i finish the payments for the ats.

Did u check Carvana, Vroom, Carmax to see what they would offer for the ATS?

No I havent but the selling price that carfax gave me was around 17k. So It would be almost the same as if I was to trade it in.

$3000 rolled into a new 36 mo lease is about $85/mo. So if u got the c43 for $550 then you’d be paying somewhere around $635/mo. So it’s a personal preference. Financially not the best choice to roll over neg equity but depends on your situation. You’re paying it one way or another. Unless I can sell it to vroom etc for a better price

If you owe $18k and can get $17k, you get to skip Cadillac turn in fee, plus any excess wear/tear/tires etc.

It could be close to a wash.

If, and only if, you keep transactions separate, of course. Sell the car to someone from whom you are NOT buying / leasing a new one.

(I specialize is ways to rationalize sketchy car :moneybag: decisions )

Where have you been looking at these? In person? It might be a better idea to have this forum throw some light on what your seeing before you jump on the other side. Its the last thing you want to do, is to sign up for a not too good deal and then roll in your negative 3k as well.
