Inspections when Transferring from Another State

Hi All,

I am picking up someones i3 lease transfer on here this coming week. Before I pick it up I am going to go to the NY DMV and register the vehicle and get plates. The vehicle is in NJ. I can’t seem to find any information regarding inspection.

Do I need a NEW inspection prior to registering the vehicle (I can’t drive it without plates, so…)

Since electric vehicles don’t have emissions, is it just a safety inspection?

Can I use a recent inspection from NJ in New York?

If it’s like PA, you have a grace period after you register it to get a state inspection. It’s not long though…maybe a week IIRC.

I’d assume NY is similar.
