Hey everyone. I have worked with a few brokers in the past and enjoy spending time on this site just looking at cars and the numbers. How to be a broker

Not entirely sure if this is the place to post this BUT, I’ve recently been considering becoming an auto broker but not entirely sure how to go about it. I live in New York so do you need a license to be a broker? Also does anyone on here have tips on becoming a new broker? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Being that the car business is a frenzy right now with everything going with the shortage I would say right now is not probably going to be a good time to start your venture and I would imagine California of all places is going to be one the more difficult states to get started.

Probably similar to New York in essence where you need a brokers license, surety bond, physical location etc

OP - looks like you’ll need a Dealer license with a Brokerage Endorsement (if I am reading correctly).
