Mailed Check. I guess you could call that a hassle but at that point you’re probably tripping over your own toes.
It’s not something new, for any credit card you can redeem to statement credit to make the balance negative then call the bank, ask them to mail a check to you(required by law)
“call the bank” feels like something I’d rather not do but I also did not know that was something you could do.
For Amex plat, you can put money on United’s travel bank to trigger the $200 incidental fees.
You can’t but there are different flavors of the Plat if you want to get the personal one really bad. Morgan Stanley and Charles Schwab Plats.
The Business Plat is the one to churn.
nobody talks about Capital One Savor
Lol yea it’s because most people can’t get approved for Cap One. Even then I think AMEX Gold is far superior to it just because it earns MR. It also works at bars just like Savor.
do you find this better than expertflyer? I used to just drop what i was looking for in there but so many airlines stopped working that it didn’t make sense to keep it anymore
Yes I cancelled Expertflyer and switched to this. I have been using them long before they even gave the premium options.
Hoard the points. Get the Venture X and then transfer the savor cash to Venture. Voila, transferable points.
It’s not a published benefit but I have done it tons of times between my Spark Cards and Venture X business cards.
What is your NLL offer? 15k/3months for 150k points?
Nope. 170k after $15k spend in 3 months and another 10k if you add an employee card and spend $1000 on it. 180k total bonus for $15k spend provided you do $1000 of that on an “employee” card.
Question is how to do the spend for dozens (hundreds?) of SUB per year.
Buying Groups? They aren’t what they used to be. Haven’t used them in years
Hundreds is just open cards not per year.
So so many ways to meet spend. Overpay taxes, IRS and state, buying groups, not AMEX but I use Mastercard cards to pay mortgage, car leases, home insurance, bills, resale. You can do manufactured spending too but that’s beyond the scope of discussion here.
Do most of that already besides BG. Not so comfortable with them anymore. That covers a bunch of cards per year but not dozens (especially gold and plats with 10k-15k MSR).
In terms of MS, I haven’t found anything great since USPS stopped taking GC for money orders.
YMMV of course, a lot of MS methods can be very localized. Just don’t get involved in a Ponzi scheme…
Which many BG may be. People should be aware of the risk. Especially with Amazon not being as easy anymore with lost items etc.
My PM is open
Rent is probably the easiest way. I do the taxes too, (underpay taxes, then pay in bulk in March/April time frame).
If you can afford the float, you can always make estimated payments and get them refunded. I wouldn’t go crazy like numbskulls on Reddit doing $170k though.
I like EF because you can hunt inventory buckets for revenue tickets as well. makes using upgrade awards/companion certs on Delta a million times easier
Perhaps not the most popular option, but the US Bank Altitude Reserve gives you 3x points for anything you buy on Apple Pay (or GPay/Samsung Pay).
Points are fixed at 1.5c for redemption when you use for travel → in practice, any major travel website when you use mobile redemptions
Net net I make 4.5% on pretty much 80% of my spend
There’s glitch Google Pay on website may not give 3 points because the low-level implementation difference between Google Pay vs. Apple Pay
But Apple Pay, either in-app or web(must use safari) always work!
using plastiq ? I used to use them few years back but haven’t since then.
One would think that there would be a better option than 2.9% on Plastiq. Makes using a MC painful.
