I have 2023 BMW i4 - want to end lease early

Yes it will be negative the question is it less than the other two options (swap or remaining payments). I’m guessing it will be somewhere in between those two but it’s worth the 5 minutes to get a quote.

Naah,

These are $26-27K MMR all day… won’t get much leeway anyway you put it. Just keep it till lease term and use the rest of the 5K miles :call_me_hand:

If you keep it, you also have ~15 months of insurance, at least one additional year of CA registration ($600?), and how are the tires? They’ll need to be at or over 4/32 when you turn the car in.

You’re also at 31,000 miles now. At what mileage threshold does the warranty expire?

I believe 4 years, 50k miles basic warranty. 8 years, 100k for battery. I DK if BMW BEV have free maintenance.

yes, I did. Came back at $27k.

@BYGFEET nailed it. I second what he said. Just enjoy the car and drive the Benz on weekend to keep the overage down. Hang in there and best of luck.

They include complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, and complimentary roadside assistance for four years with no mileage limit.

A lot of good points from @trism , so some more options to cut costs:

1 - trade in (using a good broker - your 881 pmt on an e40 at 12K mi is a huge concern!) for a better BMW, say an I5, iX or i7. Yes, your payment will go up but at least you’ll have a nicer and more upscale car. You won’t get a Porsche for the BMW price and I’m not sure if you’ll need a Porsche coming from an e40. Can try now and/or wait until it’s close to your DMV renewal which will also take you close to your mileage allowance limit.

2 - try to ground the i4 early right before DMV expiration/mileage limit. You’ll take about 10,600 hit but won’t pay DMV and/or mileage penalty. You’ll be free to get any car you want.

3 - offer a $9K incentive for someone to assume your i4 (and I sure hope it’s a very loaded car in some nice popular color). Here’s why $9K: this car is worth roughly about $400/mo at 10,000 mi/yr. If someone needs to buy about 500 mi/mo at .23/mi, they will pay $115/mo for that and will have 833 mi/mo. You’d need to offer an incentive of about $600/mo to make it worth their while. $600 x 15 = $9,000. Obviously, you can try with a somewhat lower number to see if anyone bites, especially if they like your car and don’t drive much.

You can list it here in Private Transfers and Facebook Marketplace for free. Craigslist charges whopping $5 per month. Swapalease starts at about $100+ (negotiable to an extend). Not much to lose either way. Take good pix, find your window sticker or build sheet to show options (also in your BMW FS online amount) and GOOD LUCK!

And FYI, BMW FS offers 3 choices for prepaying extra miles: prepay at about 23 cents per in advance, prepay any fixed amount per month with payment and the best option is to pay the day before lease return when they know the exact number of miles needed, still at the same ~23 cents rate.
Last option is overage penalty at 25 cents per mile.

Good to know. Thanks. What maintenance do electric BMW,s need?

Cabin filter, brake fluid, annual physical.
