Hello LH Community,
I’ve received a survey from Hyundai that I could use your help filling out.
As you may or may not know, Hyundai is working on a vehicle for the US market (that might be called the Santa Cruz, no official name announced yet).
They don’t want to call it a truck, so they’re soliciting 10 suggestions for what they should call it. I can’t think of 10, so I’m hoping I could crowdsource the answer here.
Interested to see what you come up with, and looking forward to offering this vehicle on LH when it drops, whatever it’s called!
In Australia they’d just call it a Ute and call it a day. Perhaps a FAV (Family Adventure Vehicle)? VersaCoupe maybe? AdVentage? UniqUte?

And the point of this thing is what exactly? they looked at subaru baja and decided that this one niche market Hyundai must be in?

I’d have to see one in person but just based on the photo here I feel like they got the proportions wrong. And that’s not even getting into reducing the utility of an already compromised 5 foot bed down to 4.3 feet.

I thought Honda already tried this with the Ridgeline.
How much over MSRP is this beauty going for?
Should have called it the mullet - So it is office white collar in the front and construction blue collar in the back?
I broke out in the hives I only get for Subaru Bajas and Brats when I saw the photo

Also interesting that the original concept was a 2 door with suicide doors, and the final version is a 4 door crew cab.
Because even Hyundai engineers are not that dumb ?
This thing is infinitely better looking than the maverick it’s competing against.
The maverick is definitely more practical and most likely cheaper.
Why did Ford have to make the maverick look so freaking ugly? The ranger and f150 look fine…

To save cost, you have to give the design to the interns and first year hires…
I understand the actual why , I was being rhetorical.
It just shows me they don’t intend to take the maverick or it’s market serious. There isn’t a lot of profit in the 20k maverick. All the profit is in high trimmed rangers and f150.

Maybe it’s similar to the way some brands shame the base model buyers of their vehicles… make everyone know you were too cheap/poor to get the F150.
