10k miles a year is the lowest for HMF iirc.
Without going into the details if this is the ONLY EV you want i would suggest $240/m with first month due at signing. It will provide around 10%+ dealer discount.
@AutoNinjas have Sportages for less than that. You should check with them if they can get you a deal on a Kona.
Besides that, don’t restrict yourself to one dealer. In order to get a good deal, you need to broaden your search.
Finally, I don’t believe the Ioniq 5 or 6, EV6 or GV60 are MUCH bigger than the Kona, I’d barely call them SUVs… you should give them a try.
OP is deadset on that Kona.
I had one and it was pretty decent. But at MSRP? Nah. Why give the dealer free money when others are selling their cars for less. If OP came to this site, they are intending to save money…paying MSRP for an EV is not saving money.
Well maybe if it was an Ioniq 5 N..MAYBE MSRP
Even AMAZON is selling Konas for 2k off with a 2k Amazon gift card (Note Buy not lease) and OP wants to pay MSRP for a Kona?
I test drove the Kona and EV6 pretty much back to back. To be fair to the OP, the EV6 is noticeably bigger in ways (width, for example) that don’t necessarily get noticed by everyone. If you park in your own driveway with no car next to it, it doesn’t matter. If you park in my old building, it does matter.
Before someone says “it’s only ___ inches,” small differences are actually big differences in tight spaces.
So shoot for 240 total (plus taxes and fees) and 0 down? So 5760 total for 24 plus tax/fees? That might be a reach. But you don’t know until you ask.
I believe this is the Kona non-electric? Significant difference in MSRP on the two cars.
Thank you. I could certainly deal with an IONIQ 5 (drove when I drove Kona electric)but they are leasing out higher than Kona electric. As is the Nissan Ariya(I drove that, and it seemed very similar in size to the Tesla Y)
I prefer nothing bigger than any of those.
$240/m all in. All taxes, fees and dmv rolled into monthly payments.
No huge amount due at signing. Just $240 DAS.
Tell them you ready to sign today.
Let’s see what they say.
Good luck.
If you don’t drive much and don’t want to choose today’s best lease to be followed by 2027’s best lease and so forth, lease the Kona EV for the $7,500 rebate and immediately buy it out.
Before someone screams “depreciation” yes every new car depreciates even gas ones but you don’t need to worry about short term volatility if you own long term.
My Ariya feels bigger than my GV60 (equivalent to the Ioniq 5), so it would definitely be quite bigger than the Kona.
Again, my suggestions would be to search for dealers sitting on more inventory or to contact a broker.
When looking for a deal you should be willing to drive at least a little bit to get the car.
You are right…sorta, the Electric is more
The Kona SEL is 2050 +2k
But yours is limited
The Kona Electric Limited is $500 + $2k
So even in a limited 500 + 2k means there is still meat on that bone.
There’s money to be saved, if you don’t want to…well good luck
Oh I’m trying to save money. That’s why I am here and trying to learn. Being new to leasing, any input from those of you who know is helpful.
In the northeast, the brokers are offering 10% off MSRP on all Hyundai models besides the Palisade and Santa Fe Hybrid (8%).
It may be worth getting on a flight depending on how much you want to save and how low supply is.
Remember it is a 200 mile electric. Thats an awful trip if the chargers arent nice
I tossed out what I think is pretty aggressive ask, much lower than was proposed.
We’ll see if they counter with anything even close. As I mentioned, inventory for this car is limited. Good news is I’m not set on this. I’ve got time to look and other options.
Thanks again to those who provided input.
Even if the chargers are great… the Kona charges at 100kWh…
You either ship it to GA or you get it from a 200ish mile radius.

IDK your zip code. This is an example in the northeast
Kona EV is rated at 261 miles range.
Ship it and fly home. Could even do a whole deal remotely, I bought my i4 from a dealer 400 miles away and it was deposited directly in my driveway 24 hours after the papers were signed.
Eats up some of the discount but you gotta do what you gotta do.
If I could find a remote deal, no problem!
