How to handle lease expiration on very low mile CX-9

some unknown about the GC 4xe… how long until delivery? What the MF and RV will be?

They’re getting flack on an already high MSRP and have to figure that won’t move to keep the lowest one under 60k. You probably need to ensure the lease extension first as its highly doubtful to arrive by March since they’ve taken orders since last year pre pricing. But there may also be some cancelled orders of people who assumed lower pricing.

I don’t know that extending the lease matters too much vs going ahead and purchasing then trading in in a few months. If I want to take the equity in my current lease I will have to buy it then sell it. What would be the benefit in extending the lease vs doing this? The dealer I spoke with have only had 1-2 orders and has around 10 allocated already.

Extending the lease means you can have a car on hand while the next car is being ordered.

It will lower your equity (probably) but you will get the car you want and not the car you see.

Also if anyone has any other suggestions on similar SUVs I’d be open to listen to them. We just want a good deal on a nice mid size SUV. 3rd row not required. I’ve stayed away from Hyundai and Kia because every time I have tried to deal with their dealerships I’ve gotten frustrated and walked out.

My question is, if I have to buy it outright since Mazda/Chase won’t let me sell to 3rd party. And I am not going to just turn it in and walk away from the 8k in equity. Why not just buy it now as opposed to extending my lease.

It’s not Mazda chase that isn’t letting you sell. Carmax and Vroom won’t buy from them.

You can sell to Carnaxm GivemetheVin or Algo or any number of other ones out there without incurring any titling time or additional tax.

That’s why you don’t have to ‘buy it now’ and pay whatever fees that’s involved.

Of course if Carmax and Vroom is way above the others, then yes buy it out.

Thank you to the mod that combined this. I forgot I made that post back in November. I guess my situation hasn’t changed much. Thanks again for all you guys do.

Plenty of gas Grand Cherokees on the lots that you may be able to negotiate less than MSRP.

But if you can order the car you want at a great discount extend the lease so you have a car until the new one and then have a 3rd party buy it out and make some profit.

There are at least two dealers in TX who can order Tellurides with no markup. I’m sure the same applies to Sorentos, Seltoses and Sportages

Discounts and residuals on GC 4xe are lower than the wrangler 4xe, and the prices are higher than expected over the gas equivalent.

Still might be worth ordering with a decent discount and small deposit but not likely to be a repeat of the wrangler 4xe no brainer.
