HOW TO GET A GOOD WRANGLER 4XE Deal; Buckle up for a LONG read! (Part 4)

Just goes to show. Better to lease these than to own.

I leased my 22 4xE with the Clutch deal from Louisiana and shipped it out to So cal. We’re coming up on the end of my lease in July and I’m curious if I will have any problems doing a lease return at a local dealer? Given I leased it out in Louisana and had it shipped out, I really hope the local dealers will handle the lease return.

Has anyone had any issues?

Some dealers might push back but the place that got your service business should take it back. Worth checking out options now before the deadline gets close (figure out process and someone to talk to). If they think they can roll you into another deal almost any dealer will take it. That enticement may be enough for some to take it.

but if you do the lease end inspection with aim or another vendor the actual drop off is super quick and easy.

Dropped my lease off to local dealer. Been a quick 3 years. No push back from the dealer. Picked up from Chappy in PA, registered to MI, returned to OH. Did pre-inspection locally in OH and not Michigan too.

We are in the same boat.
We shipped from LA to VA.

Check engine lights coming on and off, battery fan issues, recalls…
Can’t wait to get rid of these.

To top it off, we now have $8400 in unpaid personal property taxes that we didn’t know about because the dealer registers the vehicle for you.
We did 2 one-pay leases and were surprised by $4000 in taxes each on the lease end payoff sheet.
We had no idea we would owe them, and because we leased and didn’t purchased the vehicles we are not eligible for any military tax exemptions.

Lesson learned, don’t lease in a state with high personal property taxes if you can avoid it, especially as a military family with options where you can register.

So this thread has been ā€œhow to get a good dealā€ to ā€œhow do I get out of a 4xe lease without getting burned?ā€

Are there any good deals on the Gladiators?

I’m looking for a truck as my next lease, but would like to be sub 400…

Anyone here has had any experience with these?

They lease miserably

We just returned our 4xe last month—what a relief to be done with it. I feel your concern because returning ours here in SoCal after leasing from Mark CDJR (via the Clutch deal too) turned into more of a hassle than expected.

Did the AIM inspection which was smooth and even had the lease extended another month just to buy some time to figure out our next steps. Called a local dealer ahead of time to confirm they’d take the return—spoke to a manager who assured me everything was good—but when I showed up, it was clearly just a ploy to get us into another car. Wasted half a day which was frustrating and honestly reinforces how bad Stellantis service can be.

Luckily, I found another dealership that was way more professional, spoke directly with the president and they accepted the return. Whole process took under 5 minutes, including paperwork. Final bill just came in from Chrysler Capital ($395) and that was that. :white_check_mark:

We really did enjoy the 4xe when it worked properly, but after three rounds of the death wobble and all the recalls, we were just done.

Hopefully your return goes smoother, but definitely call around and confirm with someone who can actually make decisions—saves a lot of time and stress.

Thank you for the confirmation.

Guess I’ll have to wait for the 200 tacos to pop up again!

Thanks for the insight! Which dealer did you end up taking it to in so cal that took the lease return?

I’m right there with you. 3 coolant pumps, the recall, and endless death wobble that never got resolved. I’m done with this thing and stellantis.

It’s unfortunate how many dealers just throw new steering dampers on to deal with wobble instead of actually fixing the problem.

wow that sucks for sure! I guess I’m the lucky one, have had 8 Wranglers (7 4xe, 1 392) over the last few years and no issues except for the recent recall which was just a simple software update.

So for the first time of driving any vehicles in my life (probably have close to 300k miles by now), I was left dead strangled stranded in the lane on a highway by my 4XE. Thank god it’s not in the middle lane I guess? It was slow crawling traffic, instrument screen suddenly flashed ā€œService Hybrid Systemā€ and put itself in P abruptly. Dead from there. Not gonna lie, I panicked. I put on hazard and left the car and called 911. I could have done better in hindsight. A kind Samaritan did try to help but we couldn’t get it going. Then after a while I started to calm down, there is got to be some way to manually put this thing in neutral, right? And of course, by the time cop arrives I figured it out, and of course the car would shift to D just like nothing had happened.

Lease matures in 3 weeks, in total it probably stayed in the shop for a month if not more for a 24 mo lease. When it runs, I actually liked it a lot but I’m just happy to be done with it.

TLDR, RTFM if you have an FCA product, it should be mandatory and shame on me.

I’m hoping you were stranded and not actually strangled

lmao brain fart moment but almost, if the doors decide to not open in Texas lol

I agree. I’m on 3rd 4XE and never an issue. The challenge right now is finding 2025 inventory - there is none in Boston region.

Has anyone ever had a dealer ask for a leasing contract to verify loyalty eligibility? I had my friend co-sign on my Hornet deal to capture the 2k rebate. She provided her registration card at the time. The dealer is now saying that Stellantis is asking for her leasing contract. I offered to send her most recent monthly statement but he said that wouldn’t do.
