I am having a new vehicle delivered to my house from a dealership about 2 hours away. One guy is going to drive it and another will follow in a chase car to drive them both back. Any idea what a good tip would be?
Edit: Wanted to add that the delivery will be free of charge from the dealer.
I personally like to tip them enough for a nice meal on me… It is more about someone actually thought about what they were doing, and took time to appreciate it… I say " Thank you again for taking the time to bring me my car safely, and the next meal is on me."
In the past I’ve tipped car transport drivers about ~10% of the total fee (with a max tip of ~$100). In your case, a 2 hour distance is probably not more than $200 or so. So I’d tip $20. Maybe $20 each max.
The last delivery driver I had (closed transport) tried to cover up a scratch on the custom paint by rubbing grease in it, and dropping it off in the middle of the night. I tipped him, but ended up getting a nice check from the transport company to cover repairs and the original cost of shipment. I don’t know if they let him keep the tip.
