Someone asked me this… How would I go about calculating if this lease buy-out was a rip off? In 1980 a 1977 Toyota Corolla was coming off lease and the seller stated the buyback was $2400 and then the buyer purchased it for the $2400 and said they felt they got a good deal. I looked up that the 1977 Toyota Corolla in 1977 new was between $1,900 and $4,000. The car was NOT top of the line. therefore I told the person it looks like you get ripped off back in 1980 when you bought it for $2400 am I correct about this? Maybe there was different rules, laws money factors interest rates etc etc back in late 70’s and early 80’s and the lease contracts were written different compared to these days… Thanks for your opinions.
youre trolling right?
Parody post?
100% got ripped off. Make sure you contact your state’s attorney general and news outlet.
Considering
- Interest Rates were 15% in the early 80’s
- You gave a vague spec of a car that can sell for ANY AMOUNT depending on down and trade in
- Who the heck can remember the exact amounts from over 40 years ago
- And why does it matter?
They got a shit deal, you can rub it in their face, and make them prove that it was good. (If you are wrong)
Name of dealer so I can replicate?
It’s been a long day; I needed this post.
I personally thing it was an okay deal. If they still have the vehicle, I think it may even be worth more today than they paid for it. Try appraising it online on Carvana, Vroom, Shift, ALGO, Carmax, etc.
Let us know how it turns out!
Just put in an order on the new DeLorean. Once I fire up the flux capacitor, I’ll drop by 1980 and find out for you.
So all this to just rub it in their face that they got ripped off and “I told you so”?
Yes, you’re right. You good now?
Great deal ICE cars were in demand in 1980.
Relative to gold it only cost 4 oz of gold.
Such a good deal that you should PM every broker here and see if they can replicate it.
Why not just post for brokers to contact you with deals and wait for all the offers to flow into your inbox?
It’s ok guys, he’s been in the ice since 1980, thank you Captain America ![]()
How do you have this much time on your hands?
This is the sorta topic with a complete stranger at the bar after 3 rounds.
correct, they wrote those contracts on a stone block
I’ll take that one on faith!
That’s actually not an equation to be solved in the sense of solving for x. It’s more of a theorem which says that that rate of change (df/dt) of a function f with time t is the same as taking a measurement f(t+h) subtract from f(t) and divide by the interval h and take the limit as h → 0.
or it was just a sarcastic comment to a ludicrous question.
