HonestyCar Broker - Serving California - Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area

Hi Mary,

This is Leon from HonestyCar. I saw your post tonight and want to respond directly and publicly rather than through back channels.

First, I’m sorry the timing didn’t work for your situation. You reserved on a Tuesday, completed a credit application Wednesday night, and needed a car quickly. I understand how frustrating it is to have that timeline collapse on you.

I want to walk through what actually happened on our side, because the picture in your post isn’t the full picture.

Our dealer contact for this Audi deal, the person Wei has been working with, recently transitioned from Santa Monica Audi to Beverly Hills Audi. The deal itself is real and still available. What we couldn’t deliver was the specific same week turnaround your situation required, because the rooftop handoff for our contact wasn’t fully complete yet. That’s a timing problem, not a fabricated deal. Wei didn’t lie about the contact or the deal. He underestimated how long the transition would take, and he should have surfaced that expected delay to you upfront before you invested time in the credit application. That’s on us, and it’s something we’re fixing in our process so it doesn’t happen again.

On your credit information, I want to address this directly because I take it seriously. Your application was shared with the dealer as part of moving the deal forward, which is the standard process once a credit app is submitted. Since you chose not to proceed, I’ve already permanently deleted your credit application from our system as of tonight. The dealer cannot take any further action on it without your direct authorization, and if you’d like, you can also contact the dealership directly to confirm no further use of your information on their end. You don’t need to take any action on our side.

Again, I’m sorry for the frustration. The feedback on our process gap is fair, even if the framing in your post isn’t how we’d describe what happened.

Leon, your response is not accurate. In any event, I’ve removed my posts because I don’t [typically] share my personal situations in a public forum. I’ll just say: if anyone is considering using HonestyCar, feel free to message me and I’ll be happy to share my experience. - Mary
