Honda Accord Sport 36M/12K @328$ a month - opinion?

Then you should probably pass on the Accord.

pass it?
its the lowest monthly rate I got for a decent car…
(i care about the engine performance, the fun of driving and small features like sunroof/heated seat/safety features like blind spots or lane follow/remote start/apple car/ touch screen and of course look).

all other cars with close of similar performances costs more:

The Volvo S90 T6 AWD at $60k MSRP is going for the same cost as the Accord Sport’s deal:

Well hang on though. I mean if this was a financial advice forum, we’d all be telling him to get a 2003 Honda Civic and sleep in the back of it, but he seems to want a nice car and likes the C300 and the Accord.

Nivo, what % rate did they offer you? Did you look into any local credit unions? They are free to join and often have lower rates - you can google search ones in your area. If you put some cash down and do an 84 month loan at a competitive rate, you’re under $350/month.

Also I didn’t say the C300 was better, I just said it was a “better deal” if you think in terms of the lease cost compared to the MSRP. But there are many, many cheaper options. And the Accord is a very fine car, and like I said, you’ll have the option to get out of it in 6 months or 6 years.

What would I personally do if I was just starting out? Skip the leasing and get a relatively inexpensive and reliable used car with low maintenance costs. Depending on your location, insurance costs may also be substantially less. But that’s just me.

Also, welcome to the US

tried with the local dealer he gave me ZERO dealership incentives…
and he didnt look like he want to sell he just wanted to be left alone LOL

ill be happy to have that deal!

Go look at a Passat, they are sub $300. This link is for deals in SoCal but I’m sure they’d deal in Ohio too. Or the Jetta, it’s more of midsize car anyway.

Well, I mean, if you try once and give up at the first sign of rejection then you’re not going to make a lot of headway regardless of what you want.

Plus… what do you mean zero dealership incentives? He doesn’t really have much of a choice what incentives and rebates are applied.

Dear God I love that you made a spreadsheet. But most importantly you need to pick a car based on your own personal taste, not our taste or stats!

FYI the fuel economy on the Accord is wrong, I average 32mpg on my 2.0T. I think it’s rated 22/32/26 combined.

Thank you sir!!!
happy to be here!

they said for 36 month finance its 1.9% and for 60 months its 2.9% 84 is too high 5-6%

also, putting down payment miss my goal on saving…

you are right when saying take a used car but I know that I need this two three years of living cost effective and then ill get back on track as i want to , also at this time I learn more on how things are working here.

but in the meantime I care for driving a nice car that one of the small things that makes me smile every morning on my way to work

test drove it - its not even close to the old model with the rich torqie motor - this one feels like an old korean 1.6L.
they ruined a GREAT car just for better fuel efficiency .

it does not have the performance I look for

sorry didnt mean incentive - ment discounts…

the incentive on that car are amazing - its 7500 standard + 3000 for A-plan/Costco membership…
but without additional dealership discount on sale price it still above the 500.

i need a better dealership - I told them about other deals that were closed with those discount and I show that I am dead serious but I got no additional discount.

yes you are right - mistyped…

that spreadsheet is much longer and much wider LOL
its includes all the RV/MF/incentives/MSD’s
it rates every value of the performance and score it (comparing it to all other values on the same table - normal distribution) and also score the values of the lease deal broken to RV/MF/incentives and score that too…
and at the end it sums the whole total score for which car is the best (for me) for the best deal.

yes I am a over done it a little - but I am an engineer and I make decisions with math LOL

Hah, I’m an engineer too, so I understand. I’m sure that a lot of people on this forum are.

Keep in mind that (especially as a “car guy”), buying a car is an emotional decision just as much as it is financial. Not everything is explained with basic numbers. Buy what you want and what feels good to you so that you don’t have any regrets. Especially if it’s a lease…you do NOT want to be locked into a 36 month lease on a vehicle you didn’t really even like. I don’t buy something unless I love it to the point where the price is easy to justify in my head. We can’t make that decision for you  Like I said, I just wouldn’t rule out certified pre-owned luxury cars with warranty that might fit your budget and provide more bang for the buck.

Are all of those numbers with zero down payment? What about up front costs?

Also, you may want to consider 2 year leases as well.

For MB, you can get prepaid maintenance and it is also residualized.

True. Honestly, if he really likes the Accord, it’s not that bad of a payment. That spread sheet should be pared down to only the cars of interest though. Else the RAV4 looks to be a winner

Unless he can compromise on a lease which would equal or cost less than the used car over 2-3 years including the recovered equity of the used car when he is done with it.

why 2 years lease? is the monthly pay can be better that way?

they offered me that

so I checked the option of financing the Accord,
Credit Union and Honda finance offer the same…
60/72/84 months the monthly payment still above the offered lease
(60-2.9% / 72 - 3.37% / 84 - 3.99%)

Not with Honda, but some mfgs you can get better lease payment because of an increase in residual between 2 and 3 year terms. Of course, there are other factors but these are all things which should be taken into account, especially if you are open to 2 year terms.
