Help with Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL/VW ID.4 Pro S Lease

Hey all. Looking for some help negotiating a couple leases. Got some pricing from Hyundai for an Ioniq 5 SEL and pricing for a Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S. Wasn’t too impressed by either deals. Here in AZ the money factors aren’t too great for Hyundai, but the VW is basically at 0.

MSRP discount is going to be the biggest thing that helps me get this payment down. Ways to go about negotiating that? Is it just finding comps locally? Excellent (800+) credit. I want to be at under $400/mo, $0 down, $0 DAS for these vehicles.

Don’t have a ton to go off of for AZ, but other states make it seem very doable. Unfortunately not many brokers for AZ either. One question, I kept being told by Hyundai that the tax on their lease was a “garage use tax” or something along those lines but I didn’t get any clear direction on exactly what that means. AZ has a vehicle use tax but that’s typically only for vehicles purchased out of state and registered in AZ. I understand that monthly sales tax on the lease but not that portion. Any help would be much appreciated as this is our first lease! Thanks!

I’m sure there are better deals to be had on these, but what are you basing you $0 DAS under $400 per month numbers on?

Not sure why the taxes are so high on the VW lease. AZ taxes each lease payment, not the total value of the car upfront. They probably tax the rebate and down payment as well, but it should be much lower than what is shown. Decent Hyundai I5 deals are typically about 6% off MSRP so there is more to go after there. I am not sure if supply is shrinking yet, which may raise overall cost.

Are you asking dealers for quotes? Stop doing that- make a well-researched, geographic, time-sensitive, actionable offer on what you want to pay.

For the Ioniq 5, 3.86% pre-incentive discount isn’t the best. In CA, broker deals ~ 7+% on Limited RWD, but inventory is shrinking. Reach out to some of the CA brokers and see if they can get you an out of state price. 36/10 has higher rebate incentives and where you are seeing $0 DAS and ~$400 for Limited RWD, but if you need more miles that will certainly change pricing.

Don’t know much about VW, but the $1082 options- do you really need them?

Hey all. Looking to send my first ever lease offer sheet. I just want to make sure my numbers are all correct. My understanding is capitalizing is rolling all the fees + taxes, etc. into the monthly payment so that I have $0 DAS. When using the calculator, I get the same depreciation value, but somehow the wrong rent charge and slightly wrong monthly taxes. Since rent charge is dependent on ACC, I’m unsure how the depreciation can be the same but the rent charge incorrect. Give me any thoughts you might have and any criticisms on the numbers if they are wrong. I just want to make sure I send the correct numbers!

Side note: the CCR (rebate) tax I calculated is using my city’s sales tax rate of 9.2%, however, the city I’m buying it in is only 7.8%. Does the dealer use my registration zip code to calculate sales tax for the CCR tax and the monthly payment tax or only for the monthly payment tax? As you can tell, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Do you think the posted numbers by me are a reasonable offer?

I posted some numbers that definitely come in much lower than the Hyundai offer. Unsure if they are 100% correct or not.

Why do you want to confuse them with all of these numbers if the monthly payment is what you’re targeting?

This is what I was building my offer sheet based off of. I think these numbers give them a clearer and less ambiguous way of giving me my desired monthly payment rather than saying “I want less than $400/mo"

Looks like you are going in with ~8% discount, so that might be a little high, but a good starting point.

I agree. If nothing else, it let’s them know you understand leasing and they are not likely to rip you off. Either that or they will not want to deal with you because you know too much!

Yeah I’m assuming 8% is a bit high but hoping to land around 6%. For what it’s worth, there’s only been 2 Hyundai deals in AZ from the Signed section of the site and both of those were over 10% off MSRP. I think 6% is a good level from averages from CA.

Good work! This is how i send my offers. This is the quickest way, either they accept (rarely) or counter, or they will not even make any attempt to deal. Dont be afraid to ask for higher discount, there is nothing to lose. I usually start from 10% or 1-2% more than broker discounts.
