Itās very common for it to take an out of state dealer 2 or 3 passes before they get all the taxes and govāt fees correct (especially if theyāre 2,000 miles away).
Itās also not uncommon for them to use placeholder or local rates for some of these fields on initial quotes.
None of this means they are trying to scam you or rip you off.
A dealer in CT isnāt going to spend time reasearching WA taxes and fees just so they get a quote correct to the penny for a car they may or may not sell.
As an out of state buyer you should at least have a ballpark for local taxes and fees so that you can work with the dealer to get everything correct. Is $1010 correct for WA registration?
As you mentioned there is no tax for WA for lease up to 15-20K, why are they adding tax now?
I thought there will be no tax. Check with the dealer on what is the monthly tax?
Where are the shipping fees included in your quote, or are you paying those separately? Also, be careful with what you are trying to do with the buyout. The state may look at the value of the vehicle, not the sales price when calculating taxes. When you buyout the lease, it will not be at the residual value. It will be residual plus remaining depreciation. I donāt know if you can pre- pay the lease payments. You may just have to put down a big chunk of cash to get the buyout below $30K, and the state may not accept that you are buying a $40K car for less than $30K just because you essentially made a big down payment.
Did you factor in shipping costs? Iād imagine itās possible to find something closer netting the same amount after transport. Also dealers tend to negotiate more towards end of month. Iād imagine you can find the same if not better deal at month end on this.
