Help with BMW X1 loaner from out of state dealer

Hi guys,

Wanted to thank the community for all the knowledge I’ve gained on this site. I’m working out a deal on a X1 loaner but need some additional info.

Dealer is in CT and I am a resident of Long Island. What is the process for DMV if there are plates I want to transfer from my current car that I am selling privately? (I still have the car) They said they will charge $260 DMV, for what? To get a temp CT plate for me to drive home?

I also read the CT does not regulate doc fees but $599 dealer conveyance is part of the fee is pretty high…no?

Any advice or help is much appreciated. @HN308 or others who do this often? I will post a link to calculator once the deal is finalized.

Can anyone help with info here? I would try and solidify this deal if I can figure out this info. Not sure if I can negotiate the DMV fee to just get a transit plate and do the registration once I get back to NY
