Hi there! I have been diligently using this forum for research. I test drove the GLC Coupe here in SF and LOVE it. It is hard to find with parking sensors and we not only live right in the city, but if you saw our garage, you would understand why I need front and back sensors. LOL. I found the exact car I want from a dealer out of state. What I’d like to do is come up with #s to email to a few dealers that have the car with parking sensors (there isn’t a single one here or in the area with parking sensors). We are in our current lease until July 1 and can go without a car until mid-August. So taking a page from @Ed_Churchward, I am planning on putting #'s together, emailing them to a few dealers and then hoping that between now and August (when we will be closer to the 2018s coming out), I’ll get someone to bite on my offer.
San Francisco quoted me:
MSRP: $54,035
MF: .00165
Residual: 57%
Down Payment: $5K
They are saying no discounts and that would be payment of $780. Lease calculator puts payments at $703 with those numbers. I want a payment closer to $560 with about $1500 down. Can I negotiate on the MF at all? Anyone have luck with that? I know I should add in MSDs. Anything else?
Sounds like it’ll be difficult for you to get a good deal on the exact vehicle you want. Will you be buying out of state to get one with parking sensors? Was the point of getting a quote from a SF dealer just to guage what discounts might be? CA usually is most competitive and agressive with giving discounts. If they aren’t disocunting here, other states likely would not be too.
If a MF is marked up, then you can negotiate for the base MF. You can’t get lower than base MF, unless applying MSDs and autopay.
@Jon - yes, because that particular one has all the features i want and none i don’t.
re: california - really? i just read another post on this forum saying that there is a CA mercedes-benz collusion to keep prices high. in san francisco, i feel like there are a lot of people running around with tech money who won’t be bothered to search for the best deal and just pay whatever…
As I understand it they are retooling the plant right now and the new ones should be out soon, same basic car but with newer infotainment with CarPlay and Android Auto.
Will be hard to get a discount on the GLC but talk to fleet managers at the dealers and see if they can help.
Did you end up leasing a GLC coupe? If so, from whom? I’m also in NorCal. I’d be curious to know how much you were able to negotiate off MSRP? I’ve been offered $3000-$3500 off on the 43 AMG coupes without even asking however I just recently decided to scale back and focus on the 300. I was quoted $685/mo including sales tax with $1700-$1800 drive off, 10x MSD’s, only $500 off MSRP + $500 fleet discount.
Nope. I got a Q5 because the lease prices were so high on the GLC. I needed parking sensors, so that limited me somewhat, but coupes in particular were low supply/high demand when I was looking. No one was willing to negotiate. But I was committed to $500/month, very little down on a $50K car. I wound up paying $506/month $0 down for all the features I wanted on a Q5. Not nearly as sexy looking as the GLC coupe.
I can’t remember my best quote, but I did see an offer from MB of Walnut Creek on a coupe for $599/month with no money down. I could never find a salesperson willing to back up that offer, though, which doubly annoyed me. They kept saying they couldn’t “find the offer” even though I was emailing it back to them with the exact numbers highlighted.
If you go to the MB USA site, you can search for pre-owned coupes. If you limit your search to 2017/2018 with low mileage, you will find previous dealer loaners that can leased. (Takes a little bit of calling and researching, but if mileage is less than 3k, they almost always are.) That might be your best bet. I did a fair amount of that, but again, I was limited because I wanted parking sensors and they are not on most of those models. Good luck.
The cosmetic AMG sport is a must for me and most of the ones that have the AMG trim, have a bunch of other unnecessary add-ons. The Q5 has a very nice interior, one of my gripes with the current GLC. I like the newly re-designed interior in the E and S class.
