Help Countering a 2025 Ford F150 Lightning Demo in NJ

NJ, Ford 150 Lightning Lariat Demo

Hi all.

Long time forum reader - have hacked a few good Jeeps GC deals to date, typically by researching and mass emailing dealers within 200 miles with my preferred terms - its worked 4 out of 4 times (2 4xe, 2 ICE). This time is a little different for me and I’m bogged down with too much work to do my usual deep dive - I’ve just started a general contracting business and need a full size PU.. I’m trying to get the best deal possible on a F150 Lightning Lariat demo from a dealer near by. They only have 2 Lightenings on their lot (both Lariats) and they admitted that there is no demand in our area for EVs. Lucky for me I have a charger and would be happy with leasing an EV… I’ve been watching this particular 2025 for about 4 months now.

I want to be in the $500/month range - I know it sounds crazy but I’ve seen crazier on this forum.

Can anyone help me prepare to counter this (what I think to be a very high initial dealer offer)??

Directly from the dealer:

“Ran the numbers for this Demo Lightning Lease.

MSRP $80,780
Dealer Discount $5,000
Lease Rebate $8,000
Demo Mileage Cash $3,000 (Has to hit 4,000 miles, currently sitting at 2,200)
Total discount plus rebates $16,000 once vehicle hits 4,000 miles.

36month lease
15,000miles yr
$3,500 down(tax+tags)
$779 payment monthly.

This would be all in. Please let me know if you are intersted in this lease. “

This is what they sent me this morning after a quick test drive and a candid conversation about my willingness to move forward if the numbers made sense yesterday.

Any thoughts and/or advice on getting the number I need? Thank you in advance for your help!

Cheers.

Why bother with this particular unit if it doesn’t qualify for the $3,000 demo cash?

If you don’t need the bells and whistles a Lariat has, an ICE STX or Ram Big Horn (w/loyalty) is probably the way to go this month.

I can wait until it hits 4000 miles for the demo cash - their sale manager is using it daily. They also said they would hold it for me if we made the deal until it hit - which I am ok with. Don’t necessarily need the bells and whistles but would love them if I could get them! Thx for the input though.

Unless if he/she is putting 1800 miles in the next week, wait to see what next months programs are.

As far as the current program is concerned, much of an additional dealer discount is needed to get to $500?

Then I suggest looking at more common Lighting trims and not just the Lariat

Thanks @max_g. I’m really just looking for some advice regarding preparing a counter offer and potentially some insights on deal parameters for this deal. I’d be open to another trim level but the dealer I’m working with only has 2 Lightenings both Lariats - there’s no demand - I’d like to get into this one if possible - hoping there’s more room for negotiation given the low demand and the fact its a demo. Anyone with any ideas for this deal? Thanks in advance all!

Maybe your problem is that you’re asking a Lightening (sic), but not a Lightning?

Someone who held two Lightning past 9/30 isn’t necessarily open to a rational offer.

Expand your search and know your target offer (ask here if you don’t) before opening any discussion

You’re at a 6% discount and the typical ask on these is 10% to 12%. I would start with that. The rebate is $6000 RCL cash plus a $2000 Charging credit. It doesn’t sound like you have a private offer, but that would be your only other stackable option. Most of us in NJ drive to other states to get Lightnings. Try dealers in MD. But the Ford program is so weak now, I would be looking for a lease transfer if I was crazy enough to acquire a Lightning before the winter.

Point taken - thx and agreed. Not sure what a “good” and realistic target is… I know where I want to be (see below) - not sure if it’s realistic though. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot on the forums for these cars. Given the macro elements surrounding the EV industry in conjunction with low demand in my area and the fact this vehicle is a Demo - so much of what remains feels super subjective.

Where I’d like to be:

  • $0 DAS (no more than tax and tags otherwise)
  • ~$500/mo.
  • 15K mi/yr
  • don’t much care about the term

Thanks.

Thank you - where can I find info on stackable private offers from Ford? Also, do you think that 25’ leftovers will be a better deal in 2026 than a demo before the New Year? Cheers.

Compared to the historic programs, I don’t suspect there will be any real deals on the Ford Lightning anytime soon. Ford has already stated that Lightning production will be halted for some, if not all, of 2026. They have shifted incentives and marketing efforts over to the ICE trucks, which are comparatively much better values this month. In addition, the Lariat trim has always represented the worst value in the lineup, the luxury finishes are subjectively bad, you are better off saving money with an XLT/Flash/STX or going straight to Platinum. At 15K miles a year, plus demo miles, you will be out of warranty for a significant portion of your lease, which is also something we do not generally suggest here. I would be looking for a 24month term. You had about 4 years to get into a Lightning. If you are looking for a new half-ton BEV, the GM products are the way to go, even with the abomination they use for batteries.

Here are the current Ford conditional offers shown in the LH calculator

Thx for the insight and private offer info. Really good point about the warranty, I neglected to consider that. It can’t hurt to throw a counter at them before moving on. All they can do is say piss off.

$0 DAS, $500/mo/24 mo

any thoughts?

if I can’t get into a BEV, any ideas on best bang for my buck - light duty, preferably full size pick up, crew cab (full rear seat) - would love a sunroof and heated seats but that’s just a “nice to have”

  • $0 DAS (no more than tax and tags otherwise)
  • ~$500/mo.
  • 15K mi/yr

Thank you :call_me_hand:

F150 STX (can add aftermarket heated seats), Ram Big Horn V6, Tundra SR5, Silverado 1500 2FL. Might need some inceptions DAS.

I replaced my Lightning with a 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie and financed using a pre-owned balloon loan.

Thx for the input. I’ll start looking around.

Any thoughts on a smaller PU? Taco, Ranger, frontier, Colorado, etc.?

What exactly are you going to be using the truck for? Towing? Hauling? No truck uses generally?

Very hard to recommend what size of truck and model you should be looking at without knowing what you’re using the truck for specifically.
