GM XS Wear insurance cost for a Volt?

Was just quoted that it be about $1500 for the coverage. Seems very expensive especially as its max payout is only $5000.

any thoughts on the reasonableness of this?

If you lease another GM there is a decent chance they will still have a $500 damage waiver.
I’d pass anyway…

I don’t know about Volt but I paid $600 for my Cruze.

right, at $500 I’d take it (especially as taking a 15K mile lease, so who knows if I’ll need new tires, reasonable gamble at that point), between $500 and $1K I’d be ok taking it, but would think about it harder. anything over $1K is most likely a nogo for me.

I’d pass too. …

yea over 1k doesn’t make sense. My BMW’s wear and tear protection is $850, So there’s no reason for GM to go over that much. Did you throw him a number? like $600. see if he/she say yes or no?

I was offered it at $495 about 1.5 years ago. I believe the base price for it is around that number, anything additional is profit for the dealer.

I’ve only negotiated with the salesman, he says he doesn’t do xs wear as its a finance option and something to be dealt with the finance guys, he went off to them to get a quote (this is all being done on phone) so dont know how accurate it is.

My salesman just told me when u get into the finance manager’s office, just throw the number $600 in his face lol so both of you 2 won’t be wasting the time. Before you sign anything, you don’t owe them. Yea i think the base price is like $500, giving them $100 is not a big deal, especially of how much protection that you will be getting. btw, when you buy this plan if you ever go over your milage, $400 can go towards for the extra miles. So I think it’s well worth it. So you will still have the damage up to $4600 which I think is plenty.

GM Financial has $500 excess mileage waiver if you lease or purchase another GM. Of course this may or may not exist 3 years from now.

I still would not buy it. You can control the miles.

Yea, but I don’t think i’ll get another GM in the future, model 3 should be out by then, finger cross! I live in an area with a lot of rock chips might fly in your face, changing windshield is expensive, and if you do road trip a lot, it’s hard to avoid those little ding and stuff. So I don’t want to worry too much each time when I drive my car and worry about extra spending when I return the car.

My last car got charged of $2900 when I return it and I regraded that I didn’t buy the wear and tear plan. :sob:

But again it’s all depends on where you live, and how bad the road is.

Before you buy it make sure of what is covers and does not cover.

yea the down side is that each item only cover up to $1000. So… but I think it’s good enough, compare to Fiat. My Fiat 500e had a damage of 650 on the front bumper, and I still need to pay extra 150 at the end :rage:

ah, that I know. see

the main thing for me is that it covers tires. On a 45K lease, $600 down could be a wash and I dont have to worry about replacing the tires and I get the other benefits for free.

ok, we might even get that far. They wanted to give me a 2.66% rate with the one pay lease reduction. I was like hell no.

ok, we got it all squared away, see my other post.

I paid $750 for the GM XS Wear. Sales person gave quote of $1200. When we went to finance office, they quoted $1400 to start with. Negotiated it to $750. For that price on a black volt is worth it. Covers extra miles upto $400, wheels + tires are covered. So not a bad deal to add $21/mo to the lease and at the end walk away by just handing the keys over. Worth it for peace of mind it offers.

Burn those tires up before you turn it in!
(Is that possible with a Volt)?
