Getting out of Genesis Lease

Hey LH,
Wondering if anyone has practical suggestions on exiting my Genesis lease.

I’d love to throw it up on SAL or for private transfer here but the issue is that Genesis Financial does not allow lease transfers.

Looked at the traditional routes of like Carmax/Carvana but they can’t buy from Genesis directly and it is cheaper to make the remaining payments than to sell/trade the car.

Looking to exit because I’m tracking to be over mileage by a good amount and am not the biggest fan of the car.

Am I SOL?

TIA!

How upside down are you if you want to trade it in? If Genesis doesn’t allow a buyout by a dealer besides Genesis you may have to find a vehicle that has a Genesis dealer in their organization.

It is like ~$10-11k last I checked, cheaper to make remainder of payments + fee which comes out to like $9,XXX.

Yeah, going that much upside down is tough. I got kind of lucky lately and had an Audi dealer give me more than my trade was worth by a few grand to close a deal on a new Q7 lease. Maybe if you can find the right dealer that needs to move a car they may be willing to close that gap some. Maybe at least make it less than stroking a check to Genesis for $9k

Yeah I’m going to keep looking lol

I’d reach out to some of the brokers on here and see what they can offer. I’ve had good luck with them.

Can you share the broker in PM?
Don’t want to waste anyone’s time for $500 because that won’t really move the needle here lol

There’s different regions here dude. Doesn’t matter who I point you to if they’re not in your region.

Check the forums for your region. LeaseWizards, Stellar Auto are just two of them for northeast.
