GC L vs Telluride/Palisade

I am looking at buying one of these and keep it for the next 5-7 years. This will replace a 2014 QX60.
Mainly looking for an

  • AWD road tripping car
  • 2 car seats and lots of storage
  • Good highway driving aids
  • Reliability
  • Good tech (car play, premium sound, 360 camera) and safety features.
  • Hybrid - good to have. Have a EV so a 4xe GCL would be awesome.

Other options I considered -

  • Sienna AWD - ground clearance-not sure if it can handle roads to Tahoe and Yosemite
  • Kia carnival - No AWD
  • Highlander - don’t really like the interiors.

Back in 2014, I rented a GC for a 3000 mile road trip and loved it. So I am leaning towards it.

Any opinions on which one is better?

Sorento PHEV.

I’d pick the GC for 3 years, not to buy, especially with the first year of a new gen. Taken a look at the Pilot yet?

Longevity? I’d almost always go Toyota. In this case, a KIA could be OK. Their warranty is quite good these days.

There’s significantly more room in a paluride than the gc-l, especially in the 3rd row and cargo area.

Sorento phev is quite nice, but much smaller.

I bought a carnival instead of getting a gc-l

Yeah CJDR doesn’t spell longevity or reliability.

BTW the outgoing JGC failed its IIHS safety test pretty badly. CJDR never rectified it AFAIK because they never submitted it for a retest in the subsequent years. So wait til the new model is tested before considering it for a purchase.

Thanks! That’s good to know.

How do you like the Carnival? Wish it had AWD.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will take a look at the Pilot.

It’s fantastic. Had a Palisade for a while and it was fantastic as well. This is everything I liked about the palisade with more usable space.

Pilot is overdue for a redesign. In normal times it would need a big discount and trunk money to compete against newer, better-equipped vehicles.

the pilot is outdated at this point and is nowhere near as nice or comfortable as either the Palisade or the Telluride.

Really sounds like you should be checking out a minivan - the Toyota Sienna Hybrid is available in AWD and looks pretty cool for a minivan IMO.

Edit - there is a Woodlands edition with better clearance and bunch of other extra features like tow hitch and 1500watt outlet. Could be the ticket for you.
