Gave my car to dealership...now what?! Plz help!

Time to put your big boy pants on. You don’t need anyone here to tell you the next move.

If you’re not comfortable go get something from them and don’t miss any payments.

If you’re not worried wait it out and don’t miss any payments.

Is the dealer reputable? Are they in the business for a long time? Is it part of a large company? At this point you are at the mercy of them and their track record is probably a good indication of how much of a headache you will have.

@chirag_patel2 Please explain how you entered into a transaction with this dealer and for what reason? Did you find them on internet, is it a very visible dealership near where you live, did you respond to an ad? Also why did you just turn in the Range Rover? Did you check if you had any equity etc in it? If not, why not turn it into at a dealer?

Finally, are you sure you did not even sign an Odometer statement? To me it seems the Range Rover is on its way to an African or Eastern European country as we speak - no title needed there  Did the people there speak with any accent, like Albanian or Ukrainian or even Nigerian?

Live and learn?

How was the equity worked out? Did they call the bank to find out what the payoff was? Is that the exact amount they are supposedly sending? If not, where’s the rest?

I can imagine the valet attendant from Ferris Bueller driving your car around for 2 weeks because the odometer reading wasn’t verified when you left.

My nephew bought a car from them or was brokered through them. They have a dealership with real luxury cars there.

You know, if they were to do something crazy and gets into an accident, then it’s on you, right?

My vote is it’s already been chopped to pieces in Newark

Jk I’m sure it’ll all be fine but it’s still nuts

You’re likely fine man. If they have a physical location, and it looks legit then everything is probably fine and just needs a little more time.

You can also always go back to the dealership, tell them you would like to undo the transaction. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the dealership, this would be the best thing for you. For the dealership, it’s as simple as cancelling the check.

If they try and say the check has already been cashed, request a copy of the check and get the bank on the line to confirm it has been cashed. If the bank confirms it, you are all set! If not, have the dealership cancel the check and give your car back. You can always sell the car somewhere else.

You basically dropped off ur car with keys. Prob all liability physical and payment wise is urs.

Chances r things won’t go horribly wrong but it has the potential to.

I don’t know if you can get police involved or so and get your car back. (Maybe this is horrible advice, maybe not)

I don’t see any need to get police involved at this time. Seems a bit dramatic.

Damn… and I though I’ve see all the possible stories out three… but to just drop of the car and leave without ANY paperwork…
Can’t picture that scenario at all

Agreed - and it’s not like it was a $5k Suzuki… it was a RR…

OP - what other cars do you have? I’ll send you an address where you can drop them off - I promise I pay good price!

Smells like a troll…

this - people need to put the pitchforks away.

Chase has sucked recently in processing this type of stuff (regardless if it’s a captive dealer, wholesaler, etc

Keep an eye on your account especially as the next payment is coming up. Dealership can eat that payment and cut you a check for it (as they will get a lower payoff on the car) @chirag_patel2, either way, make sure it gets paid (by yourself or by dealer)

It’s not a question about chase. It’s mind boggling how can someone just drop off a car and keys and leaving without any idea of what the deal looks like OR ANY paperwork…

Last time I heard of “keys in the mail” was 2008 when people didn’t care to pay for their underwater houses.

I just take this whole situation seriously. Unless this are is like $20 in the water than you would not cry about losing but then why worry about payments…

Not sure what’s worse - this or the guy, who is trying to get his GF out of MB in Jeep (aka new G-wagon)

I would pick being the guy with the G wagon. His predicament has an outcome under his control.

At least the guy with the GF is getting some…. for his trouble…and he knows what his next step is.

The drop off guy is being left out to dry by Chase/Dealer/Albanian Mafia and doesn’t know what or when is his next step.

But yes they are both getting roasted and my popcorn stock is running low. We wish both of them luck and fair seas and following winds.

Yes. I had 6 months left to pay off.
I did take the plates and surrender them to dmv. Can I cancel my car insurance atleast?

NO! Without any proof otherwise, you still own the car and are financially responsible for it.
