I’ve been on a mission to find the 2024 50e (m-sport prof, premium package) and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. While the iX is seeing an absolute price cut and dealers are offering various incentives, the situation with the X5 50e is quite the opposite.
Whether it’s only being available on build or dealers abruptly ending phone calls when inquiring about available vehicles on the lot, I’m finding it nearly impossible to get any incentives or reasonable deals. To add to my frustration, the iX simply doesn’t appeal to me. It feels low and gimmicky, and I’m just not ready to make the switch to an EV.
I have increased my radius (not that the BMW locator helps) to beyond San Diego area, but the situation remains the same.
Is there something I’m missing? Is this lack of interest in selling these vehicles due to availability, or is there something else at play? I’m really eager to hear your thoughts and experiences, especially if anyone has successfully navigated this situation.
I am also missing any recent deals for this vehicle, what have others negotiated?
Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions!
If you’re set on the X5e, I’d work with one of the usual suspects on LH (dealers or brokers) or look much further out of state. Have not seen any deals on this at all, and I believe allocations are very low for this vehicle at dealerships. Many are firm orders and there’s really no reason for dealers to sell this at a loss, especially with the high CA demand. Good luck with the search!
There is no inventory available and huge demand.
If a dealer does have one, it will sell at MSRP.
You can order one, at a discount, but don’t seem to like that option.
It’s called supply and demand. If they only have one or two of them on the lot, why would they give you a deal when they know they can sell it at sticker? You have to pay to play these days, if you are set on the 50e. Otherwise, you have the option to speak to a broker or figure out an alternative car. Simple as that.
I think the biggest discounts for so cal we were 3-4% on X5e earlier this year. @max_g said it, this isn’t really a hackable vehicle.
I found a used 2022 X5e with 6k miles totally loaded for about $68k back in May at BMW Vista. Didn’t pull the trigger. Maybe consider one that’s a few months old if you can find one and maybe you can get a slightly better deal than new.
