I am asking here because Ford customer service was not helpful! I have swapped out a BMW of mine and they have it down to a science with a step by step process, Ford… not so much.
Has anyone on here swapped out of their Ford lease before?
I am swapping out a Ford Explorer, the person assuming the lease is completing the credit app today. Once they are approved, what is next? When is ownership transferred? Does Ford send the assuming party the documents they need to register the car?
I swapped out an F150 and it was super easy and straight forward. Once they’re approved, they send the paperwork to be signed. It gets faxed to them and you had over the keys. Was no big deal.
24 hours, but we have done quite a few trucks with them and mostly go through the dealership via company. The lease swap we picked up were just absolute steals otherwise we go straight to new cars.
The timeline as follows
Step 1 receive paperwork
Step 2 new leasee submits credit app asap
Step 3 after approval ford sends original leasee the paperwork that must be signed like odometer statement, etc etc and you must sign and then send to the other party who signs and then they fax it in to ford mc
Step 4 after 72 hours ford mc gives approval and everything is transferred, you then schedule pickup.
This was in February aka pre-covid so things might have slowed down
I swapped out an 18 F-150 2 years ago and had one negative thought lingering, “they put in the fine print that the original lessee remains responsible for payments”.
They will verbally say you are not but the print will rule in court.
one more question! (if you know the answer) Is it safe to sign on another car once their app is approved? At what point is the swapee locked in? Any input is helpful. Thanks again!
IE just want to make sure I don’t get stuck with 2 cars
Yeah it is out on loaner right now (hopefully it stays out LOL) just not sure if they’ll hold it with the deposit for multiple weeks ( is it takes that long) Swapee submitted credit app to ford on Wednesday.
